I know. This one almost went to sleep in my hand after it figured out an open mouth wasn't gonna get filled by me. It was so nice and warm there. It always *talks* to me when I go out to do chores. Wish I had luck raising baby birds. I've always failed,.....darn!
Other than re-nesting I pretty much have learned to let them be.

It's like winter here today. I hear the UP is getting snow though, so I guess I'm not complaining, much. *Blush*

UP?
Today is mid 60's and feels like heaven. Okay, so I don't really know what heaven feels like. Will some day. Big Grin
I have been repotting tomato plants all day today, from my Winter Sow milk jugs. I still can't believe how easy it was to start them this way.
Next it is on to redoing all of my succulent containers. Way past time for it. : (
Say hi to baby grackle for me. Thumbs up

Sorry,
UP is Upper Peninsula. We visit Mackinac Island in Michigan every year for the Lilac Festival so we kind of keep an eye on what happens up there. We even get the Island Newspaper sent here. Silly, I know, but we love it there!

Baby Grackle evidently left the nest again. Didn't see or hear it today, sorry. Sad

Hi Lynn!
Let's just start with this, *Blush* okay got that in there. I haven't cut them yet. I've been strangely off strategy the last few days. We have been deluged with rain and I haven't felt like doing much of anything except what I can't do,...plant.
Perhaps I'll get my act together and cut them tomorrow. Supposed to finally be clear.
Thanks for thinking of me. Smiling

Don't go buy, see if some of us have extra to trade. The sedum are really taking off now. Semps are just starting up with active growth so will be awhile for their chicks to mature and root.

That Korspel Sport you have up has me wanting. That is a really neat looking plant. I have to learn more about zonal needs first. I don't have enough light in my house to bring in a lot of plants for the winter.

goldfinch4 (Chris) lives in zone 4.
This is the first crop of chicks from Korspel Sport, I put them in end of last Oct. Put them on your wish list for later this summer. I will have some then. None are mature enough to ship yet. The only one right now that is mature enough to send is Semp. tectorum, and they are very hardy and tough.
All you need is good drainage, if you don't have that you can do pots or amend your soil. Sport is a tiny one, but very cute. : ) It seemed to make it through our weird winter weather (10 degrees with no snow cover) in Dec. Then we had cold and torrential rain. The rain is what will really do them in if you don't have good drainage. Other than that, they are very tough plants.

Hi Chelle, sedum and semps both do great here in zone 4. Make it though the winters without protection no problem. I also have some of both I'd be willing to send you. I'll try to make a list up soon....I seem to be so far behind with everything right now. Me and the rest of the gardeners in the world! Hilarious!

I forgot to say that drying wind is hard on them also. Shouldn't be a problem in your area though Chelle.

You guys are awesome! Should I do a wish list here in your cubit, Lynn?
I have the perfect place, with perfect drainage! DH built it for my Mom last spring and she didn't want it, so he took it all apart again and moved it to my side of the yard. I'll see if I have it in a pic somewhere. Here is one. It's from winter, but you can get an idea of it. It is a planter about a foot and a half wide, by like 20 feet long. Serpentine shaped and filled with a mixture of # 3 driveway rocks, compost, soil, and sand. Mums wintered over in it okay. Parts of it get sun most of the day. Nice and warm as it is painted a that fairly dark color. Hurray!

Can you start a wish list thread in the Trading Forum? Put the subject as Chelle's wish list. That way it will be easy to find. Thumbs up

By this time I could have gotten out there to take a new one!
I'll do the wish as soon as I can. Not sure how long I'll be on yet tonight.

Chelle, I just got a really good look at the planter, how tall is it? That is such a cleaver idea. Sedum & semps should do very well in that. I have some sedum ready to go if you would like some. BTW, remember the baby redbud tree you sent me? It is growing. I so love that little tree. How is the Golden Chain tree doing?
