What a great deck Chelle. And it even has a covered shady area. How cute, looks like you little dog is hiding? Wow that yellow begonia sure stands out, it's gorgeous.

Thanks Lynn! Glad you enjoyed the short tour. That doggie came with a light up lantern in his mouth that of course only worked for one season. I liked the statue though so I set him there to make it appear that he's looking around the corner at a statue of a fat white cat! Hilarious!
Oh my, yes! Those begonias are stupendous! Every year I look at those and ask myself, what more could I want!?! I couldn't imagine a summer season without them now. Here's another shot of those pretties.

Chris,
Yes. It's a great place to sit and take a break! See, I even have an old fan out there to push the air around! Big Grin ....and my son has his pool right there so I can sit and watch him play. Lovey dubby

Chris -
I agree Hurray! They only last until about the end of July when they get pretty lanky and spent of blooms, but from May till then, pure enjoyment! This year I started a few later as well. I'm hoping to extend the begonia season till frost. We'll see! I love experimenting!

The plants are beautiful but so is the color combination! Good idea to start some later too. They do OK in the heat and humidity?

Chris - They thrive on heat and humidity! The more the better as far as they are concerned. They won't tolerate direct sun, however. That's one of the reasons we built that covered area on the deck with the clear roof panels. These plants do best in bright, indirect light. Our deck gets a bit of sun in the morning, and a bit more in the evening, otherwise it's almost completely shaded. We have huge trees on the South side of our house that provide the shade. Big Grin

Gift plant from the birds. Smiling

Great bird gift Chelle. We had several of those last year. They were so special to me because the birds planted them. : )
I don't have very good luck with begonias, wish I did because they are absolutely beautiful. The begonia basket is more than beautiful. Sighhh.

Glad you can at least enjoy a pix of it Lynn. Sorry about not being able to grow them there. Sad They really don't like cool so they'd get a really late start where you are anyway, wouldn't they? I bet you could grow Oregon Grape Holly though, I've always admired that plant and wished I could grow it here. Great Gunnera would probably thrive there as well. I tried Gunnera last year. The poor thing rotted and disappeared.

Here is a cool and crisp looking bloom out in all this heat. Hydrangea - 'Pinkie Winkie'. Big Grin

Pinkie Winkie? The white is beautiful. Having trouble seeing where the pink comes in. Rolling on the floor laughing
