Lynn,
That planter is about 2 and a half feet tall. The planting mix goes all the way to the ground, so plenty of room for root growth. He had to be clever to make the serpentine shape around the flower bed and the tree. He used a molded plastic length of material that you can get to make curved areas on decks, for the inner supports to attach the wood uprights to. (And the poor guy had to build it twice!)
I'm happy to hear that your Red Bud is doing well. The Golden Chain tree is thriving!
I still haven't taken the cuttings of the Sedum yet. I'd better get to it soon though, huh? I have so much stuff waiting to be planted too. We did get a lot of time consuming odds & ends stuff done yesterday, so maybe I'll be able to get a bunch done today. Depends on whether my son can find something to keep himself occupied with I expect. Big Grin
Hope you have a fine day & I'll yap at ya later.....

Chelle, I just keep going back to that picture. That is so cleaver. What a patient husband you have, good man. A keeper as I like to say. : )
I can see that wall with different sedum spilling over and down it. Since it is only 21/2 feet tall, it would be great with semps also. Different colors and textures. So many other things that would grow right along with them. What a pretty picture that is going to make. Keep us posted.

I have beautiful, light green lettuces growing in there right now. Keeps it safe from four-legged rabbits. Might have some trouble from a two-legged one though. Big Grin Grandpa likes fresh lettuce on his sandwiches, but he just forgets to throw out some seed as soon as the snow melts.
I also have yellow Nasturtiums and Canary Creeper vine coming on strong. I'll take out the mums for the summer.
I'm in the process of rooting some sweet potato vine, (the chartreuse color) for it as well. The light green against the dark blue-green ought to be neat.

Hi Lynn!

I got a package today! Hurray! Thank you! Yours will go out on Monday. Smiling

Here is a current shot of the planter where the new fellows are going in. I'll take out the mums for now and pot them up. I still haven't gotten them trimmed up yet,...... busy gal.

Isn't it something though!?!! I just immediately knew that I had to have it! It won't be hardy here, of course, but at least I can enjoy it this summer. Maybe I'll find someone down south willing to plant-sit it for the winter in exchange for some of it. Ya never know. Of course by the time I pay for shipping it back and forth I could probably just
buy another one. Hilarious!

Chris, would you like to see the bog garden prep thread now, or just wait until the end of the contest? It's sort of amusing, the getting it ready part. I have to wait for things to grow to post the final pix. Big Grin I could post a link here if y'all don't mind. *Blush*

Thanks for the link, Lynn! I'm off to read up on it and get educated.
It would be great to keep that beauty around and maybe have some to share.
