“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Chantell, if you could grab me a bag of those clay balls, too, I'd appreciate it! I wonder if they'd work as a hydroponic growing medium, too... might experiment. Smiling

Cool, I didn't know about them! Bookmarked their site. Shipping would probably eat up the difference in cost betw. their product & Ikea's, though, unless somebody lives close enough to swing by. They're in Laurel, about an hour away for me (we get down there sometimes but generally only on a weekend to visit friends).

Robin, that would be great! I'll be happy to split the bag with Frenchy (unless she wants a bag to herself, in which case I'm good with a whole bag). Thx!

Chantell, thanks for finding the product... looks like we can save a few bucks if Robin picks it up.

I'm tempted by their basket tops for 5 gallon buckets, too... How cool would it be to grow your own hydroponic cucumbers or tomatoes in winter? I might try a DIY rig, instead, so I could use a storage bin or decorative (no hole) pots to hold the water. Just found hydroponic fertilizer pretty reasonably on Amazon.

Would anyone like a piece of snake cactus or an aloe? These are from my sister's house in Florida. The snake cactus is a climber, I need to repost it with a board or large branch it can climb. It roots easily.
The aloe is from her yard, it is pretty big, these are pups she bought me. I will have to see if I can find and post the picture of her next to the aloe.

Robin - does the snake cactus have soft spines or standard stiff ones?

The spines are more like pointed nubs, not a needle type spine. I'll get a close-up picture tomorrow morning.
