Very easily, specially if you have lots of bees and you cram many varieties in one pot like I do! I'm new to Japanese MGs, and boy, did I get some really strange, but pretty ones from the seeds I gathered from the ones I planted last year.
I had planted two pots of MG seeds that I had received from Ronnie on the MG thread, 8 different varieties to a pot. They were beautiful , so I gathered seed, but so far I've only had about 4 varieties come true this year. This one, this purplish grey, is most definitely a cross. They will cross with purpureas, too.
I still have a kazillion seeds from last year, so send me a tree Mail if you want any, Kristi.

Thanks but I will say no to the seeds. I was curious about saving seed from this one and then not having it come true to this color.

I lose my patience with MGs. The vines need too much water and the blooms are late to deliver for me. I would rather just enjoy your photos of these bloomers.
