We had a few absolutely breathtaking days here this week. I went on a nice drive with a point-B in mind. The fall colors were the most stunning I've ever seen. I'll post some pictures later.

I didn't recognize it! The stink horns we get here actually have orange heads, and sometimes the stalks are orange also. Very often found in hardwood mulch made of oak.

Lol, the two that popped up here one year had a slightly different but equally phallic form. Truly bizarre. Cracked me up too, Joanna. I felt like a middle schooler giggling over a dirty joke!

A few more from my visit to Tower Hill Botanical Gardens the other day. Most of my pictures didn't turn out. There is no way I can capture the true beauty and color that I saw that day. Forgive me if I post something I already posted.

Thanks Anna. Like I said, they are nowhere close to the actual color, which is absolutely breathtaking.

Zoe, that looks like a common morel, which is one of the best tasting wild mushrooms. Did you find it under some oak trees?

Lynda, I'm pretty sure it's Phallus hadriani. Good example of the pitfalls of trying to ID edible mushrooms online...there are so many similar!
