Sue have you ever grown the Creeping Jenny? If so does it smoother out weeds eventually? Looks like it makes a great ground cover.

I have just grown it in pots but that garden had two large areas with it and it looked great, that gold just glows! No apparent weeds so I am trying it in a section.

kqcrna said:I agree, containers are a lot more challenging than growing in-ground plants. I generally do OK with them, but when we go away on a week-long vacation in late summer, they barely survive. I can't find a qualified babysitter.

I'm a full time student, part time artist and quarter time plant and dog sitter. Seriously! There is a need for plant sitting in Phoenix.

When I used to travel and my daughters took care of my plants they were so afraid of killing one. Whistling I kinda feel bad now that they were so afraid. Kinda.... Hilarious!

Trish, you spray painted those pots and showed them over at Do Overs...right? Do you know that Dave actually was the first post on Garden Art? Maybe he's finding that whimsy can be fun too!!! Rolling on the floor laughing

That's the funny thing- we both love whimsy (delight, even), but seem to have trouble implementing it.

Strange, I know.

Sue, is Charleen's plant a Creeping Jenny? I really love that bright color. Thank you for the close up Charleen. I love it.

I love to look for tiny things to use as plant containers. Found the two at a garage sale.

I'm so glad I found "Moving In" I'm really going to be here a lot. My neighbor said she is going to give me a start of creeping charlie and of course I'll need some creeping jennie to go with it. I have 2 metal chairs we saved from the trash to use as planters, but so far they are just sitting in the yard. I really don't like that coir so plan on finding something different. Group hug

Hi Pegi. I see you live in the area I grew up in. : )
We'd love to see photos of your containers when you have time. : )
Sometimes you can find inexpensive light weight pots that will fit in the chairs, then you don't need the coir. Can't wait to see your chairs when they are done.

Did you know, Pegi, that KRYLON sells spray paint for plastic that sticks to a lot of things

These were hunter green but we kept them on the first big step of our pool. The Arizona heat tortured them and they turned a dull green with white water marks.

Look what a couple cans of KRYLON did for them? It sticks...no sanding or priming needed!

Here is what they did look like (dead of winter hence the dead grass)

Wow, what a difference Becky. I got some of the Krylon paint in bright Mediterranean colors to paint food cans. Punch holes in the bottom of them and screw them to a board and plant them with your favorite plants. Voila, you have a hanging garden.

I just love that plant. What is the growing hardiness zone for it?
