Looks like two mysteries solved.
Got this from Andy on the wrong plant question.

You Have a second plant in the pot and it is Cynorkis fastigiata an orchid bonus plant they come up from seed all over the nursery.

Andy
from his site:
Genus: Cynorkis Species: fastigiata Indigenous to: Madagascar
a prolific deciduous terrestrial, 1-2 seasonal leaves appear in spring from an annual tuber that produce a 4" to 10" spike carrying from two to ten 1" little pink blushed man flowers that are all lip, freely seeds and sprouts about .. everywhere.

Guess that also explains the leaf coming up from the ground and blooming

Now for some opinions. Should I let them be just as they are in the same pot? Culture is obviously the same. Or do I give Cynorkis fastigiata it's own home.

Elaine, it is beautiful. I loved the colors! Mine are wilting. Here is the last photo before they started to wilt. Let us know the scent after a little while.

Hey Mj, good to see you back again. That's a lovely little brassavola.

Ted, I'd leave it where it is, too. As long as the pot's not too crowded. But maybe don't let the seed pods mature? You'll have one in every pot.

Jen, your Cinnamon Stick has matured to such a lovely rich color. Glad to see the green petals turn yellow as they mature. The blooms usually last about 2 weeks for me in summer heat, but when it blooms again (let's hope for January or February!) the cooler weather makes them last much longer.

I have all 5 flowers open now, all facing different ways, of course. The lips are really a definite fuschia/purple, not red.

Thanks, all. I'm really enjoying them too. Sitting on the patio table (so as not to get rained on) they are right in my way out of the pool cage, so I can admire them and stick my nose in there every time I go by. No scent to speak of yet, although the big NOID is starting up with the sweet, spice cookies aroma.
