Sally, I think your little guy is a Rove Beetle
"My work is loving the world. Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird — equal seekers of sweetness. Here the clam deep in the speckled sand. Are my boots old? Is my coat torn? Guess what I was taking pictures of today? Tachiid flies also> I'll post tomorrow. Your pics are grossly fascinating Goat. That flies looks even a bit greasy since you captured every hair on its body. Love the red underneath the hairs

Luna Moth

I think this is a female Eastern Pondhawk dragonfly. She blends right in with the green foliage of the daylilies.

IDs or corrections are welcome! I am enjoying all the other photos in these threads. Looking forward to seeing more.

Welcome Jessie! Your photos are amazing and sharp! I love these two the most. I haven't seen a Luna in years! Hurray! ORGANIC

Thanks guys. Those robber flies are creepy looking, but good for pest control. We get lots of luna moths, I think because of all the sweetgum trees behind my house. Here's a pic of a luna cat from earlier this year. He's not too pretty, but very unique, and HUGE.

Love the "bad hair day" fly. Sometimes, in my opinion, something very ugly or very creepy can be just as interesting as something beautiful. Such is life...

There's one sweet gum tree here next door, two huge Black Walnuts, and several hickories. Still no lunas that I've ever seen Crying

So I put a few pics up on the butterfly board of these the other day. Brought the Monarch cats inside to give them a better chance at survival. Decided to keep them inside after all. They're in my bedroom where the kitty cant get at them. Today's count is 17-from teeny tiny and a few unhatched eggs on the swamp milkweed to fully grown ready to pupate monsters that eat and poop A LOT.

I agree I also think that all of that caterpillar poop is good for something.

Cinda, it's a Candy Lily, my newest color and only the second plant I've grown. This is the first one and the first year it's bloomed. I'm having a good year.

Good stuff everyone!

I had to do a double take of the Twice Stabbed bug. The irony. Hilarious! Then realized it was a rear-view.

Neat looking Azalea Lace Bug, so nice to be able to see the details of such tiny creatures. Thumbs up
