So where's the LTE network??

At the time that I purchased my new Galaxy S7 from a new carrier I was assured that even if I used up my 5GB bucket that the carrier's LTE network that exists in my area will kick in soon after and will bring me back to speed. Sounds good! I use the mobile hot spot to tether to my brand new PC. I had blocked ads so as not to use up a lot of GB's. But it was not even two weeks when my bucket was used up! Grumbling I couldn't believe it...why so quickly? And my computer was sooooo slow and android was working so hard in downloading web sites...sometimes can't get it done! So where's the LTE?

So I called customer service about this matter, but I couldn't get anywhere with them. They just keep insisting that tethering uses up a lot of GB's. With the former provider, yes, the system went slow after using up GB, but I was able to eventually get some things up. Why is this problem happening with my new provider? And why aren't they trying to help me resolve the issue of the LTE?

Then it hit me...would my new super-duper $36 phone protector covering have anything to do with this problem? The casing is super thick rubber so as to prevent damage to the phone if dropped. I removed it...and voila! Problem solved! Back to speed! Hurray! Hurray!

I called back customer service and explained what I found out regards the casing...that it was so thick and the phone was hardly able to pick up signals and was working so hard and using up GB. You think they believe me? Not a chance...they're young and I'm not so young and they think they know everything! Such is life!!

Glad you figured it out! I hate when the providers aren't helpful at all! Those new super thick cases are quite good at blocking signal. Just as a heads up the Galaxy s7 comes equiped with Gorilla Glass 4. It's much more crack and scratch resistant than most other phones. Generally, unless you are super rough with your phone, a simple thin bumper shell case will do the trick in protecting from drops, etc.

Speaking of "thinking skills." When I went to the new carrier's store to buy my cell phone and sign up for their service, I indicated I wanted to keep the same phone number that I had with my then current carrier. The rep. said they needed a copy of a statement from that carrier to be able to keep the phone number. Oh dear...another trip for me. Besides which, I don't get paper statements, only e-statements and I pay the bill on-line...plus, I don't have a printer to be able to copy the statements. So I suggested that we go on line using her computer to download my statement. It was an Ahah moment for her. She had been turning away customers who didn't have a paper statement with them at the time of trying to sign up for a new service! She learned something from me! Hilarious! She thanked me for this new way of handling new customer service!

D'Oh! Oh my goodness!!! People just do not use their brains these days. Hilarious! At least she learned something new.
Most people only get electronic statements these days for pretty much everything. Why wouldn't you think to yourself, "hmm, I have a computer sitting right in front of me...maybe I could pull it up for them?" Whistling Silly customer service people.

James, it is just awful that much of our world's youngsters are so into social media! They think that what they are exposed to is the norm of the world. I truly believe that the lack of parent intervention and support is what is blocking these youngsters' thinking skills to develop to the point that they will have a good life in society!

In this situation it was probably the managements training fault more than just her. The real bad service is when people can not count back change! I have had to teach that to so many cashiers when the systems go down. There is an angry waiting line stacking up and the cashier is about to have a melt down because they don't know how much cash to give back. I know I have helped a few people on both sides of the register simply showing them how to count backwards the change silently in a calm voice. I am horrible at math when in a stressful situation, but I could count back change in an angry mob of people.
I agree about youngsters and older alike being preoccupied with the electronics. For a shocking but humorous look at this in our society you tube some videos on pokemon stampedes Blinking

Time to fertilize my plants. This will be the final time for the season. After these next 4 weeks, we'll be slowing down and getting cooler. Before I know it, it'll be time to put up the greenhouse. Sighing! Goodbye Summer.

On a good note, since Fall is slowly arriving and soon winter will be around the corner: The hummingbirds are starting to show up already, making their way down from the North. AND the dreaded grackles will be heading back south to Mexico where they belong! Hurray!

I'm one of those people who like the Grackles. I call them "parking lot birds". Whenever I buy a loaf of bread I pull out the two heels and share them with the Grackles in the parking lot. They also get my leftover lunch some days.

Today I am doing not very much. I will load the garden soil and some of the plants into my car - the stuff I had to take out of the car when I had the flat tire - and after that...I will do absolutely nothing and will enjoy every minute of it. Thumbs up

chris1948 said:Hi James, I don't remember exactly how much propane I used last year but I do remember it was less than the year before. I only remember a couple of freezes in fact and not a long string of really cold days like we had the year before. Of course you being on the coast cold to you may be somewhat warm to me smack dab in the middle of he state Hilarious!

@chris1948 Oh, there is most assuredly a difference in what I consider cold compared to what you consider cold. Whistling I typically keep my tropicals greenhouse no colder than 50F during the winters. We definitely never had any freezes, however we did get down to 41F a few times. That's what I consider *cold* Thumbs down
