Okay...found out more...
"The recall is specific to the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, the latest edition of Samsung’s popular Galaxy Note line. It was released just a few weeks ago, so you should only have one if you got a new phone recently. Other Samsung phone models — including Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S7 — do not appear to be affected." http://www.vox.com/2016/9/9/12...

Whew!! The recall is specific to the Note 7...I don't have this one.

No, definitely not the s7! You're in the clear. Is only the Notes, and even at that, the issues are still being investigated, because the instances where they have caught fire were because people were using cheap chargers and chargers that did not come with the device. When you get one of the new galaxy devices, the paperwork clearly says to use the charger cord and charging box that comes with the device, because Samsung has implemented their new "adaptive quick charge" technology in all of their devices and batteries. They are not meant to be used with the regular classic chargers. But of course no one reads manuals or anything these days.

Yep. Like when microwave ovens first became available to the consumer. DO NOT place anything metal in the oven...do not cook fresh whole eggs...people still do it anyway.

So glad you have a different model. I have a Note 4 and love it but I do use the Samsung charger and only that for it.

Do you have and use Whatsapp on your smart phone. I really like it...can send pictures with or without texting. So useful to me especially when I ask my son to check out things for me at a store. He will take pictures of items and send to me and after my review I can text and send the pic of the item I want. I just hate to go shopping...especially at the HD here.

I used to use it a few years ago. I liked it while I had it. It sort of "petered out", you know as technology and trends go. Eventually no one I knew used it anymore, so I got rid of it.

Lol. Instagram has been up for a while. I don't see that trend parting any time soon. The most recent and most successful up-and-coming networking app/site would be snapchat. It has also been around for a while, but just seems to keep gaining more and more attention and users. With the implementation of their "stories" and "interactive filters", it has exploded in use and popularity. You know you have made it, when people start becoming Internet famous on your product.

With Whatsapp you can send photos internationally at no charge. There may be other free apps out there but I am too old to keep up with all the stuff.

I don't use it often and only with family here and my son and DIL in Philly, PA.
I don't mind learning new apps when communicating with family if they upgrade. Just show me the basics...period! I don't want it to be able to "beam me up." Hilarious! Well...the technology isn't available to us...yet...or is it?

crystalview said:I have not got to your test yet, Sorry! When I quickly signed in to check my email. I got a pop up for for compatibility issues. So you may be right bwv . I thought it was an odd request because it mention XP service pack 2. When I clicked on test it said that my Kindle program was not compatible. I unloaded and will reload kindle later. I just did not understand why it would say XP when that has never been on this lap top. As I said I will run your idea first and then do a search for XP service pack 2.
It has only been a few weeks since I put a legal copy of Win 7 on there. I could not read the discs ID for full access after blue screen several months ago. This heat problem started when I added back programs I had before the crash. Thanks for your help.

Sorry for not replying! What operating system were you running before you installed Windows 7? The BSoD and overheating problems are most likely related to non-compatible programs and drivers on your computer. Also, when you installed Windows 7, did you format the disk? Windows 7 does have a compatibility mode though...

Nooo thank you! Hilarious!

A tropical storm that developed near our area has moved further on and the winds and rains it was throwing at us during the last 24 hours have died. It's headed for China.

Thumb of 2016-09-12/Rainbow/eb1a80

YIKES!!! Another one is developing in almost the same area as the one that had just left our vicinity. Grumbling
Don't know yet where this one is headed. More winds and rains for us. Crying

James, this new storm is expected to be a typhoon sometime this afternoon, but it doesn't look like it will have as strong a wind force as the previous. It's headed toward Japan. I think this one will be the 3rd for Japan this year. Sad No winds nor rains here since yesterday afternoon. Hope it stays this way for awhile as my potted plants need time to dry out between rains. Crossing Fingers!
