None of the Asian restaurants around where I live is any good. I usually cook at home. I do go out to other ethnic restaurants like Cuban, Middle Eastern, Eastern European, etc. I would try anything. My mind is pretty open when it comes to food. That's why I can live anywhere. Big Grin

Tinng, you live in New Jersey now, right? My son and his wife live in West Philly, moved there from Denver, Co over a year ago. Some summer if they don't come visit me here then I'll visit them in Philly. Perhaps I could visit New Jersey then and look you up?

Mine are similar to taro but not taro. The veins are white compared to a darker color on the taro.

Sighing! There are white-veined as well as purple-veined taro leaves. It's not the vein color that distinguishes Colocasia from Alocasia, it's the way the veins are structured, among other things. At first daylight I will take a picture of the two varieties of taro I have growing. One has purple veins, the other has white veins.

Tin, it's wonderful that you are successful in growing tropical fruits in containers in New Jersey. I see that you also have a banana plant in a container. Considering your zone, do you have a greenhouse to keep your tropical plants during the winter months?

Yay! The Chinese farmers down the road just gave us a big bag of kangkung (water spinach). My Chi puppy was very curious! Hilarious!

No, I don't have a greenhouse. I just bring them inside the house. We rarely use our living room, so most of the plants get to stay in that room.
I do have 2 banana plants. I took them out early this spring and it was still cold. Thought both died but they came back up. Banana is so easy to care for. I don't even water them during the winter months.
I also have 3 lime trees. One never fruit. 2 were badly infected with scales. Almost lost all of their leaves and the branches became dried and brown. I wiped all the scales off and spray neem oil on them. Now, they are striving again.

What do the stems of the taro plant look like?
Are they the same as the picture here?

Tin, my hubs said both varieties have red stems.
Ever since you said you had a Colocasia that was edible but was not a taro, I did some research online about Colocasia. I wanted to know which kinds are edible and which are not, but got nowhere. So I asked another member here. He confirmed that there is an Asian Colocasia with stems that are edible raw. I asked whether this was a "taro." I'm waiting for his response.
