Garden Ideas: Level 1
I'm a bit disappointed that people would steal someone else's plants.

Zoom? Definitely not a hands on experience, but still good. Smiling nodding

The plant theft was not during the clinic. It was some months after the clinic. Yes, it is difficult to think that someone would do that. Sad

You guys are a bad influence on me, going to get me in trouble with all those new growing ideas. Rolling on the floor laughing

This is one of my semps in production at Mountain Crest Garden. It's called 'Copper Kettle', a medium sized rosette and has the most beautiful copper color. My mom had copper bottomed cookware and tis was the first semp that has that feeling of metallic copper. It is difficult to capture its color on film, especially the "metallic shine."

Oh yeah, that one really does remind me of the copper bottomed Revereware. Just gorgeous!

Coincidentally, there is an Aeonium with the same name: https://surrealsucculents.co.u...
I just hope there won't be any confusion between the 2. Larger nurseries are capable of doing that.

Evan,

Don't think it will be a problem as they're different genera!

Connie,

Yes it was Revereware! My mom used to polish it about once a month to keep that strong copper color. The new ones just have a veneer of copper! I wish I had her old set!

Anyway, I think this semp will be popular as it's so unique. I made crosses with it and two other coppery ones last summer and rowed out several hundred seedlings from those matings.

That is the same pans my mom had. They were the best.

Kevin, it will be exciting to see what comes from the copper crosses.

Thanks for the kind words on 'Copper Kettle'. Now to make a GIANT version of it, although Bev might be happier if I made a tiny one too.

Kevin

Yes, a smaller one would catch my eye more, but I will be happy when the medium sized, fuzzy, flat semp comes out Hurray!

Yup! And it looks like hers have those nice looong stolons that would hang over the edge of a window box or gutter ( Whistling ).
Christie, do you mind to share the name of the plant that formed your colony? I would like to add it to my list of cultivars with long stolons.

Looks like she entered her plant photo into the database as Sempervivum tectorum

I recall somebody who said their tectorums go way back into her family history gardens. Was that you, Christy?

Yes, these go back through my family over 100 years. A cousin of my grandmother brought them over from Bavaria. I think they are referred to as "greenies"
FPF - if you want any just treemail me your address and I will send you some. I tip my hat to you.
