So far, it's been a good year re grasshoppers. Less damage and fewer grasshoppers than I can remember in a long time. I think all the rain last spring may have washed the eggs into the lakes. They can sure do a lot of damage.
I haven't seen too many this year but these 3 did this sometime/all time from 7:30 am - 8pm
I remember one year decades ago the stripped a holly bush, I couldn't believe it those leaves are like leather
Good job Cheryl,

Pride of Barbados that I grew from seed. They have already set seed pods but will need to ripen. They did take two years to bloom from seed, but I think I planted them a little late in 2015 and they just didn't have enough time to grow before it started cooling off.
This is the second round for it. I totally ignored it this summer. The pot is under a tree on the side of the patio (the pot dump). I didn't expect more blooms because of no care, no fertilizer. The blooms are on my iPad. We're going out but I'll find them when we get home.
I'm so excited! Look what I just noticed today! I can't believe I didn't see it sooner! Now I'll be a nervous wreck until it opens. I hope I will know when that is!
Congratulations! Maybe it will open tomorrow night! Could be sooner, but probably needs to grow a little. Be sure to check it before you go to sleep tonight, just in case. The blooms only last one night.
