I know . I was just teasing. It is real hard to get me to be upset gene truly. I have 13 siblings..that should tell you something and I am the last girl.

I have tried spices many times trying to see what the fuss was about. In the spice draw I have 20 different salts and use them all at different times... Ditto balsamics.. But just ONE mayo.

I cannot abide thyme nor Rosemary...not cilantro or sage.. The restaurants here were on a Rosemary kick ( bread ). ..I am still waiting for them to forget sourdough. ..

Like dimples..like a long second toe..like,an attached ear...or a blue eye....like so many things...I believe taste is genetic..the affinity for taste and odor is on the gene .. I love skunk. I could smell it all day.. But butterscotch, almond, or vanilla scents...oh no!

Tumeric is about the only spice I can't find anything it tastes good on. It's good for you but I can't get it near my mouth. I've tried! But I like every other spice. Fresh is better, of course like with basil, oregano or dill weed. I found lemongrass to be odd. Didn't smell like lemons at all.

@roseblush The benefits of living in the 'burbs is having everything at your fingertips. I still have to do some searching for what I need as healthy eating is just catching on in our area. Going from store to store is not my idea of fun in our heat. But I get all that I want that way.

I find it odd that we are going backwards with foods. Eating clean and healthy cost me on average of $1 per item more. Used to be, you had to pay more for the convenience of boxed foods. Back then, it cost less to make things from scratch. Today, by the time you buy all the fresh, or organic or non-GMO/all natural, untouched, pick it-and-pack it ingredients it cost way more than if you bought it from a mix or box. The better the taste and the higher the health value often the more it costs.

Then for us Empty Nesters, a lot goes to waste. If I bought all the ingredients to make a Spring Salad Mix on my own, we would either eat salads for 3-4 days straight or let it go bad.

Tell me something I don't know ... Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

When I go down the mountain, I have to go from store to store, too. It took a few years to find the places where I could get the best foods for the right prices. I generally shop once a month.

It doesn't make sense to buy produce up here. It's over priced and it's already old. There is no way I could make a head of any kind of lettuce last a week.

So much for the "healthy plate" concept. I do make a lot of soups and stews and such from scratch starting with good produce I purchased down the mountain or brought home from the soup kitchen and froze. I just do the best I can.

If I do mention a specific spice that you are interested in, or are looking for a suggestion on a new spice for a certain dish, send me a Tree Mail. I usually have extra. Gene

And online sales used to be the best deals because of low overhead for merchandise. It's still easy to find a bargain but it's starting to be a hunt. Amazon used to be my go-to. But found more stuff on ebay this year. While in search of canned pumpkin, online at Walmart, Amazon and Ebay they were asking as much as $5/can more than twice that in stores.

Ah, but other things are so much cheaper on Amazon. The probiotic we take is $20 cheaper for a 3 week supply on Amazon than at Kroger. My husband's razor blades are $10 cheaper than Kroger... So comparison shopping can pay off if you have the time. I think Amazon prime is a deal.

I live in suburbia and go past Kroger every day. It wouldn't be out of my way to go to Kroger every day, and sometimes I think my husband does just that. Blinking However, no other competitive stores are close by, and that's a bummer. The only store I go out of my way for is Trader Joe's, and we drive there about once every 2 weeks.

I used to buy a fair amount at Amazon. But then they went from $25.00 in product for free shipping to $35.00 in product. When the soon bumped that up to $45.00 I stopped buying there..

I still go look at the product reviews at Amazon but they just don't get my money these days.

I know they want you to sign up for Prime but at least so far I haven't felt it was a good deal for me.

I love prime. But I dont take advantage of a lot of it..the streaming stuff...i have saved a bundle in shipping. I no longer ever purchase and mail to family on special occasions...amazon does it and for quicker and guarantees it. UPS And the USPS are outrageously priced

I agree. I buy a lot from Amazon with my Prime membership. I also listen to Prime music and we watch Prime video. It's a good deal for us, I think.

I use Subscribe and Save at Amazon for Toothpaste, some paper goods, detergent, my mascara, coffee, and even DH's unsweetened ice tea bottles. I figure by them bringing things I regularly use right to my door, I won't go to the store and buy tons of other things. I am famous for doing that.

I haven't tried the subscribe and save yet.

Did you know that, if you're a Prime member, and order Prime items, and they don't arrive within the 2 day shipping time, they'll extend your membership for another month for free. I did that today, in fact. You just have to email them and ask for it. I've done it several times so my membership has been extended for 2 or 3 extra months.
