I wasn't thinking of myself as being all that old until we went to a funeral for a friend yesterday, who was the same age as me; on top of the fact that my dad died at the age that I am now -- 68 -- many years ago. Every day of our lives truly is a gift... you never know what's around the corner.

I think about this all the time. And, feel lucky ....some don't make it to experience so many of lifes milstones.

Thank you, everyone, for the condolences... this wasn't even a really close friend; this has just been a somewhat difficult year for me, being the same age as my dad was when he died, and then to have a friend die at the same age. Never mind all of the younger friends that have passed away in recent years... just feeling kind of "melancholy," I guess. (does anyone use that term anymore?? )

Holding onto this thought, though...

My doctor's office set up a website...as far as I can figure out it's just for people with smartphones who want to download their app. My little cell phone isn't very smart and I don't do apps. Do I have a case for any age discrimination complaints? I got a message on my phone saying I could check on yesterday's lab results on that website. I called back and by some miracle a real human being answered and I asked about my lab results. I told her I don't see anything on the website where I could sign up. She did give me the lab results...all normal! Glad to see there's something about me they consider to be normal. Sometimes I feel like a dinosaur. We have to find a new refrigerator and I don't like any I've seen so far. Shoot, I didn't even like the one that we bought last time! Ah well! I don't need all the bells and whistles, just a basic refrigerator.
