Really crappy day today....is it ok to say crappy? Well, I'm going to say it anyhow. Morning temp was 43 with light rain. By 11 it was sleeting, noon it was snow. Still snowing and 33 out. The ground wasn't frozen when it started snowing, there's only a 1/2 inch of heavy wet slippery snow covering everything now. More snow through the night...looks like maybe we will have a winter this year.

Chickens - Yes I'll post images if we get chicks Crossing Fingers! I have been researching incubators. My one gold laced hen set this summer in an empty nest box. We had no mature roo, Calvin was still a little guy, so no fertile eggs. The chickens range over about 2 acres around the house, lawn and in the garden beds, alittle up in the pasture. We did have a tarp up but took it down last weekend to prepare for snow this weekend. The warm weather this past week made it nice enough to let them out. Both houses have solid roof covered "playpens" for winter. Calvin and his girl in the image are Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, there's another BLR pullet and I also have 6 silver laced and one gold laced. Sally, the dark banty roos are so pretty!

I agree Sue and Gerry, the fall weather has been so nice. Today's weather was a definite shock to the system. No more forgetting to feed the woodstove during the day.

Linda you better be careful...a lot of northerners on here. You might get enough snow to build a ski slope in the back yard Whistling Hilarious!

Char a ski slope would be nice.. Whistling Big Grin Of course I do not know how to ski but I sure learned how to use a Flexible Flyer sled from my childhood in Michigan. I still have one my DH surprised me with many years ago. Of course it is kind of hard to use in dirt and rocks. Crying Hilarious!

They are calling for a high of 66F. We got one inch of rain through the night. I think that's enough to have done some good, but heaven forbid that it rains while we are up and can see and hear it.

So sorry about your already getting snow!! Sad

Those chickens sure do live the good life there in your set up. It must be really nice to just watch them roaming around doing what chickens do. nodding

They really are beautiful!! Hope you get lots of little fluffy babies in the spring. Thumbs up

Thank You! Ginny, I posted that snow pic especially for you. Whistling It was taken a couple years ago in the little town of Oracle just north of Tucson after they were hit by the snow. Green Grin!

Well our snow petered out, only a dusting more overnight. Only 10 miles down the road they got 5", some areas west and north of me had up to 24". Temp was 27 this morning, up to 31 by 3 this afternoon. Cold temps and fresh snow for the World Cup ski event happening this weekend out to Killington. I'll stay inside and watch it on tv.

I don't ski either and breaking my tailbone twice over the years means sledding is no longer on my list of things to do. Anyone who has saved a sled for many years deserves to have some snow to use it! Rolling on the floor laughing Ground shipping, good one Rita!

An inch of rain is good Kelli Hurray!

I was surprised to see my High Mowing seed catalog in the mailbox Saturday. Looking forward to a sit down by the woodstove this week to plan the veggie garden for next spring Thumbs up
