To confirm what others have already said, growing instructions are very uncommon in the seed swap, Elena is just amazing at labeling everything and being super tidy and organized. Rick's are often labeled with instructions, too. Mine are labeled with growing instructions only if I have the time.

I have been enjoying the process of seed collecting and swapping for a few years now. I did put some instructions on some of mine, certainly not all.
I don't feel it is necessary, and I do not expect it. It's just fun for me to try and find the info, I need it anyway.
Last year I was in two seed swaps. I made a file in my computer with info, and improved it this year. That way I can save it from year to year, and add to it as needed. When it comes time to make packets and label them I can print out the labels, tape them on, so it is easy. But I am happy with pretty much anything. There is a guy named Duane in Oregon (not in this swap) who is amazing, he has all kinds of seeds he saves, he will send seeds in a taped scrap of paper with the name scrawled on. That works great too! So don't stress about it.

I don't usually , web asking and information , instructions are good but vary , Some plants like the white Swan Echinacea not necessary to winter stratify , only one I know of as those (oops pow wow commercially do not need stratified either ) (other all need stratified ,
The white Campanula ,perscifolia is real slow the first season , does not like hardly any water starting from seed , grows like a cactus (the leaves look it to start with also , rubbery looking) (heat and sun ), After that Sun , medium shade it grows most anywhere once rooted in and running ,

Those a couple The others of those are close to instructions you read all the time ,
Some I have no idea of how to start them ,

I agree - no need to include instructions. When I'm typing up my labels, if I have what look like good instructions from the vendor on online, I'll copy it into the labels.

Those labels are also my notes to myself about each variety.,

This year I thought the ground cherries deserved as much information as I could find, so I went hunting and squeezed as much info as I could onto that label.

But if I had to write it out longhand, NO WAY I would try to write more than the name and year, and my name. My handwriting is BAD!

They don't mind cold nights at all!

Eventually the lack of daylength will slow them down.

The people at the Roughwood seed collection were trying to select a hybrid they were breeding for cold resistance. They HOPED to work it up to the point where it could overwinter under plastic in their Zone.

The breeding program was cut short when they noticed that a few seeds had escaped the plastic-covered breeding area. They were growing happily without ANY cover, over-wintering without a care and coming back in the spring. Shouldering the competition aside.

"We don't NEED no stinkin' breeding!"

Plants get a little tough as to eating after a while , the cold makes most taste a little better , I take a raw bite or two , not much though,

Some plants ,some places , are better , naturally adapted as they are .
Greens are often easy to grow , good taste , they are nutritious resilient to problems , (especially in cold season ,) Can't ask anything more than that ,
Breeding gives nicer leaves often , but mutation brings question ,
Besides if you see it happen ,adaptation is fun with plants

I should of said , forced mutation

Hey yall, I have a question. I posted a plant ID request (post #1312623) in the plant ID forum. No one has answered it and it's moving on down the line. What do I do? Thank You!

Terri, I couldn't find the post from the #.

One thing you can do is "bump" the thread by posting to it again.

Maybe tweak the thread title using the "Suggest a Change" button.

Add more information or more photos.

I'm sorry I haven't popped in but we are finally getting fall tomorrow and I really have been busy planting bulbs and lifting other bulbs that won't make it through the winter here. But here I am, lol.

Lisa, your daughter was just beautiful on her wedding day. I know you must be so proud of her and for her. Congratulations to your whole family gaining a son! :)

I don't put instructions on seed packets. I don't mind if I don't get the instructions. If it is something I have not grown, if there are no instructions, it makes me go learn. So I'm good with seed name, seed date and I do like the senders name on it. Makes me remember whose plants I'm growing. I'm weird that way, lol.

Terri, I have posted plant pics for id that never got answered. Sometimes it takes me a couple of years before I know what I have. I'll just end up coming across something on the internet and there it will be. Patience is definitely a virtue with plant id's, lol.

I will wait a while before putting Daylily seeds in the winter jugs , only to see what the weather does
There are a few things I can sow now as it is 30 degrees this morning and we will be doing well to see 50 degrees again before spring ,
Weather does the strangest things these days , mid 70;s yesterday
Fall just came in roaring , winds and cloudy from now on , 20+ winds most of the time , The garden outdoors is no place to be now ,
I was setting up for seeds yesterday evening , a couple hours of this and putting onions and such back in the ground

Leslie, I have only grown a few daylilies from seed but have always done it by winter sowing. I have had 100% germination doing it this way. Give it a try this year. Smiling

I have a whole section of unknown plants. Every spring I play "did I plant that?" I figure if it's pretty and I like it, then it's a plant. Otherwise, it's a weed

QueenDreama-
I can't recall where I saw your question about bulb trading.
There is a forum called "Plant and Seed Trading" you should look at- people suggest swaps and giveaways there, just like you are interested in doing. I think a one-on-one swap of bulbs is totally "doable". I myself have received bulbs when I swapped seeds, we just added them in if they fit the box/bag.
