Karen I think that is Lycoris radiata? It looks like it, and they bloom late summer-fall. I would love some seeds of it if they ripen.

Whoops! I screwed up. The variegated Hellebore is NOT 'Janet Starnes', it is 'Snow Fever'. I had just decided to enter my Hellebores into my plant list so I looked at the labels I had saved. I will now go and add that as a correction to my original post.

I have some partly wild pink (half the blooms ) wild aster . Their not the same seeds I have offered , However I seem to be having some difficulty getting an all pink Blooming Aster ,,
Today I seem to have those on my minds computer
Weeds make great fill in , asters, Goldenrods , things like that ,, (my weeds thing . same as always
In the Butterfly garden if a plant is not chewed up I feel like a failure

I got a leatherleaf fern leaf from a friend yesterday that's covered in dark looking (spores?, seeds?) on the back side. They slip off easily with a thumb nail. How do I plant them?

Ferns are kind of tough to grow from spores. Here is a link. One thing to try is just to take the leaves and shake them over where you might want more, and hope they will grow there!

Agoo -

I have some kind of exciting news here. I didn't say anything because at the time, my experiment with gerbera's were under way with no results. I'm going to tell you my results and if you then want the gerberas, I will list them.

About a month ago my friend gave me my choice from her garden. She had a scarlet red gerbera daisy. I picked it, dried it and then seeded it. I chose all the "plump" ones and then sowed 12 seeds in a mini peat greenhouse. I have kept the peat pots moist. I water, then drain the excess water. This is my third week waiting for germination. Sunday saw the first sprout. Today I have a second sprout. It takes gerberas 3 weeks to germinate. For me, that germination is pretty high considering what they say about the germination rates. I didn't expect this. I think this has been worth it. Now if I can just keep them happy indoors this winter.

If anyone else besides Agoo is interested, let me know. I don't have alot of the deep red scarlet, maybe one or 2 trades, but I have enough of the Pink Surprise gerbera seed. I have cleaned both seeds just to better the germination rates when sowing. The Pink Surprise daisy seed is only 5 months old and it is in my fridge for now.

Ya'll let me know and I'll list both of them.

Karen I'd be interested in either color. I've never tried growing Gerbera before but either color should work with my color scheme. Smiling

Elena, I'll get those up. I agree with your color scheme. It seems my friend and I bought the same plants but just in different colors this year. Yay for us, lol. I really think you will like the deep red. The nice thing is I could have used it last year in my scheme which is what you are using this year. Plus it can carry over to this years scheme which is more a deep red/orange/purple type scheme with some surprises thrown in, lol.

I keep calling it pink surprise but the name of it is Sweet Surprise. Here is a link to see what you will be getting. http://www.hortweek.com/gerber...

Karen, do you have any striped gerberas? I could have sworn my best friend has one growing in a pot outside her house. If she does are you interested In its seeds?
Happy Gardening :-)

I thought it was pinkish beige with a dark red. Please forgive me in advance if I got it wrong. The kind of flower type. I will check with my friend and let you know. Confused

This may be heresy, but where are your favorite places to buy seeds?

Leslie, anyplace! Well, I'm hesitant to order from places that trade in a lot of endangered species. But other than that I'm open to just about anywhere! I've found quite a few places from NGA (forum threads and the green pages). That's why I always write where I got the commercial seeds from on the seed packs. If you like those seeds you can check out the website and see if they have others you might like too!

Thanks Guys. Rick, I'm glad to see you list Hazzards. There aren't any reviews of them in the Green Pages. They have some sweet violet seeds at a great price.
