@Dave -- I know we can get there by clicking on "community" and then "forums," but would it be possible to make the forums list a separate link at the top of the page? I think that's something that a lot of members would appreciate Smiling

I don't have room to add any sub-features like that to the navigational bar, but we have the custom links feature for exactly this purpose.

With a tablet it was much better having the forum list link on the left because that did not require raising one's arm to touch the top of the screen each time to go back to the list. Even using the custom links to eliminate one of the two taps would require raising the arm whereas before one could navigate with a thumb at the side of the tablet. Having the navigation on the bottom instead of the top of the screen would help.

Which reminds me also, while it's not an actual problem for using the site, there is a misalignment of the social media icons and their text at the bottom, on my iPad at least. The Pinterest and Facebook icons have their text underneath whereas the YouTube and Twitter text is beside the icon on the right, then Instagram goes back to being underneath.

Actually, now that I'm looking at the bottom of the screen, would it be possible to add a link to the forums there, where Privacy, Memberlist etc. are? Then it wouldn't require raising an arm or making two taps/clicks, we could just scroll with a thumb to the bottom of the page?

Did that already; the point is that I've seen a number of members saying things are taking too many "clicks" now, and this is one of those things. Shrug!

Maybe the links could be on the side again instead of the top? The "links bar" at the top also cuts off the top of the first post that I see when I go to the "first unread" post in a forum, so that I have to scroll to see who made the post.

Both are minor issues, at any rate.

Cross-posted with Sue; edited to say I meant that I already added the link in my custom menubar.

You can just click on 99 forums, and it takes you to the full list. Smiling

Isn't that just from the home page though? The issue here is that when you are in a forum you can no longer go back to the whole forums list from the one you are in with one click/tap, you have to go to community at the top and then select forums, which is awkward on a tablet. Even using the custom links requires going to the top of the screen.

I agree

But I have to confess that I didn't realize the "99 forums" was underlined and clickable... Thanks for pointing that out, Tara! Thumbs up

I've found a workaround now but it likely won't work for all devices and won't work if Apple changes the layout of Safari, but flaflwrgirl mentioned in the other thread that activating the bookmarks bar pushes the text of the posts away from the left edge of the screen. That's a plus but the other plus is that adding the forums list to the bookmarks restores one click access, and it's from the left side too Thumbs up

Or maybe the drop down menus could be automatic, with a mouse hover and not a click.

I'm not a fan of the dropdowns being activated by hover. I don't think it's particularly good design. With few exceptions, a click should be required to activate something on a website.

On second thought you are right, Dave. It is annoying to have various drop downs pop out at you when moving the mouse around. I just try to minimize my clicks if I can. It's an ergonomic thing I guess, especially for anyone spending a lot of time on the computer.
