I said I would have October blooms. Unfortunately this is the result of lows near 32. Four blooms of Bob Scott's TOPGUNS MR BIG

Me too!
I'm amazed they even opened Charley. Considering the temp you have to give them an A+ for trying. Smiling

I have many plants with scapes, however, I know that frost will soon destroy them.

How sad!

Charley - They look pretty good for 32 degrees. I have three with scapes coming, but I don't know how well they'll open later in October.

Gerry - That is a bummer. Sad Maybe you will be surprised and the weather will cooperate for you.

Well, at least you don't have the threat of a hurricane barreling into your community. Hurricane Matthew is certainly a storm to be watching closely over the coming week.

Only two blooming today:

Carnival In Mexico is truly worthy of its Stout Medal. Great vigor, great looking blooms, and long bloom season.

Mar The Star was planted last fall and was still settling-in this spring so it got a late start on blooming. Happy to see it insisting on getting-in its full bloom season!

I see scapes coming up on Beautiful Edgings and Jambalaya so maybe I'll get some more blooms in October that would be great!

Mount Herman Intrigue, first bloom open on a very late rebloom scape. Not sure if any others will have a chance with the storm on its way. We are pretty far inland but may still experience lots of rain and high winds. Hope everyone on the East Coast stays safe and that it passes quickly!

This is the first bloom from one of my recent Maryott's purchases.

This is Walter Kennedy:

I have buds on Power Surge and Thomas Tew as well, that will probably open in the next few days. Barring any unforeseen issues (from Hurricane Matthew), I hope to see and photograph those blooms. These potted plants will be in my garage or back screen porch through the storm.

Parrots of the Caribbean from Maryott planted about 4 weeks ago.

Karen, I got Parrots of the Caribbean from Maryott's on September 6th, but no scapes yet. I did get a bloom from Spanish Fiesta and I have a scape on Calamity Jane, but the temps are cooling down here in zone 8...not sure if I will actually get blooms.

I think you will like it Pat! Compared to Indian Giver, Parrots of C looks so ornate and rich. I have scapes on like 1/3 of the plants that I ordered from Maryotts. What a treat it is to see blooms in this late season.

@Dennis, your pic of Carnival in Mexico forced me to order a double fan from Shady Rest Gardens today. I should have it planted and potted tomorrow!

@Karen, I had looked at Parrots of the Caribbean for a while, and when Maryott's had it for BOGO, I had to get it.

This addiction has to stop!

I think 'Carnival in Mexico' was one of the prettiest blooms in the garden this year. Not a high bud count, and it bloomed less than a full month in my garden. Still I really enjoyed it.

The cool temperatures from the previous two weeks killed a few buds from these two reblooming 2016 seedlings, and these are the only surviving blooms.

Both are from Rollercoaster Rush X Game Face.
