Is this a first bloom for the plant, Mayo? If it is, I hope you post some of the subsequent blooms. The distribution of yellow on the sepals looks pretty intriguing in the photos.

yes, it is this plants very first bloom Lovey dubby
I'm not sure the other buds will open, it's getting rather cold over here (55F day, 40F night)
But I'll post anything that does Thumbs up

Can you explain why the yellow on the sepals is intriguing?

Mayo

First, the yellow appears really intense. IMO it makes a daylily bloom pop when the heart glows. It's a feature that plays nice with the bright sun here. The other thing is that it looks like it was splashed on like paint, complete with runs and drips. That may be just how I see the photos, but it looks really interesting.

I just got back from a month in New Mexico. When I left, Tikal Maid surprised me and had sent up a scape with two buds. I got Tikal Maid from Raven via mail late this past summer. When I returned home from holiday, I just missed one bloom by probably a day, but the second bud is getting ready to open. We have a couple of mild days until the cold weather hits. If it hasn't bloomed outdoors, I will cut it and bring it indoors to bloom. This is by far my latest daylily bloom ever!

I was gone for a few days, and found evidence that five daylilies had bloomed. I was disappointed that I did not see them and did not have the opportunity to photograph them.

After several hours of rain today, it finally stopped. I eventually went for a walk and I was surprised by this beauty.

Wow, that is such a lovely lavender daylily! The ruffled edge and color make it look like Victorian lace.
