I use Paw Paw too. I need to get some labels done before Spring. Rolling my eyes. I bought 200 last year.

A big "Thank You" to those who recommended Paw Paw. I want to get all my lilies labeled this year and was unsure what ones to go with. I ordered 100 yesterday and they mailed them out yesterday with free shipping (I seldom pay for shipping). I bought the pencil to mark them. Have any of you ever used that? Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

I like to use that pencil for writing on the "back" of the label. I use the Brother label maker for the front of the label. However, if you don't want to do that, use the pencil for the Front AND back of the label. That way, once the front fades you can always look at the back and redo the front. I love the Paw Paw too!!!

I also use the Brother P-Touch Labelwriter Model PT-1880, and I love it! I've had it for about 5 years now, and the printing absolutely does not fade! And they adhere perfectly to the metallic labels too -- one of my best decisions for my garden.

I'm making hubby take me out to a late lunch. Think I will see if I can find the Brother labelwriter. I see that so many of you recommend them. I wrote down the model number. I am wondering though, does the tape really stick well in the weather?

I use a couple different kinds.
1. Buy wooden paint stirrers from Home Depot. I cut in half and mark with sharpie.
2. I just recently purchased Stainless steel markers from Kincaid and a Brother p-touch D600
I'm really impressed with these markers; we'll see how they hold up in the garden.

First Welcome! Welcome! @lovegrillin. I use the Paw Paw and I purchased Avery WeatherProof Address Labels #5520 and so far they work great. I've had them out 2 winters. I also write in pencil on the back of the Paw Paw so I have a back up just in case. I run the labels through a lazer printer and mark the paper as "labels" so it the ink adheres to the label much better. If that doesn't work I'll do the Brother labelwriter nodding

For many years I used the Paw Paw weather proof labels that have to be printed with a laser printer. They worked well for me. I'd usually have to replace them after two (three at the longest) years. However be VERY careful of the laser printer. I always had Staples print them for me. The last two times they did it I don't know what changed but they faded in less than a year. When you have hundreds that you are updating that's a lot of work not to mention expense when you redo it in a year. That's when I went to the Brother PT700 labeler. I absolutely LOVE it. Last year was the first time using it and I replaced over 500 markers. Although mine haven't gone through the "test of time" yet, I feel pretty confident that they are going to stand up.

I've been wondering. Does anyone use the black labels with white lettering?

I tried the black with the white lettering, ended up with clear labels and black printing, seemed to stand out much better from my perspective.

I'm just trying to lessen the glare of the white labels.

Yes, the labels stick well to metal but, in my experience, not so good on plastic. I have labels on metal {old table knives} which are on the third winter with all our snow, rain, freeze/thaw and still as good as the day I put them in the garden. I used white the first year, green the second and pink last year. The label tapes are expensive but I have found if I change the settings to chain printing, I get less waste.

I ended up getting black on lavender tape. I'm so glad that they will hold up well to the weather. I took everyone's advice and printed using the chain feature. Now I just have to wait till my baby's bloom so they can get their new labels. Smiling
