Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing You always make me laugh Dana! I figure if I want to be an AHS approved display garden I can always run out and put the rest of the stuff on the labels - I have it on the spreadsheet, just too rushed to put on the labels. Whistling Whistling Whistling Hilarious! Hilarious!

The brother P-touch labels have an industrial strength one that won't peel at all. I use these when I can find them. They are getting harder to find.

The labels are printed I just have to put them on the stakes and put them in the ground. Some things will have to bloom first so I know what they are Whistling Got some more bids on the LA. I'm sure someone here was the enabler on that one Angel Hilarious!

I use a P Touch as well. I buy cheap butter knives and soup spoons at Wallyworld and stick my labels on them. Whimsical, and they hold up better than the galvanized stakes I've tried. I am now using cut vinyl blinds with pencil or grease pen for seedlings. They last longer than the plastic cutlery I was using.

I use the Brother labeler and 1 inch outdoor tape. It has lasted 3 yrs. it isn't fading so far. I have also found that Amazon sells it about 1/2 the price of our locals Staples. Hurray!

I'm going to have to get the Brother labeler. Will have to start replacing the faded ones each year. I have over 500 labels in the gardens. I suppose I'd have to take the Avery labels off and clean the stake/plate (Paw-Paw) with Goo Gone or something. Glare That's going to be a lot of work!! Ugh...

Case in point. I have only 35 cultivars, and after reading up on recommendations for effective ways to label daylily tags, for the sake of longevity, I chose the simpleton method, in hopes that redoing all of my own tags annually or even every 3 or 5 years will never wind up on the "to-do" list. Fingers crossed!, Crossing Fingers! Crossing Fingers! Whistling I can't even imagine having hundreds of tags to redo. Blinking Blinking

If any of you friends have, or know someone who has, tried the paint pen on galvanized tags, I'd like to know how long it lasted for you. Smiling

Hi, Dana
I used the paint pens on my metal tags first. About 3 yrs and they needed to be refreshed.

I've done the same, but mine are fairly new--just 1.5 years old, so we'll see if they last another 1.5! The worst has been that the darn dog pulls the stakes out now 'n again, so I'm thinking I need to use the paint pen on some cheap-o spoons or knives!

Teresa, I can see where that may be necessary in the future.

Of course there's always engraving and embossing....

Sue,
Costco has good deals on the Brother P-Touch if you have one near.

Had tactile info on how much frost heave I have going on in my yard, anywhere from 1" to3"
All of my labels had moved that much.

Not to change the subject but Dana and Rj I love your new avatars Lovey dubby Very pretty!
Are the P-Touch labels supposed to last longer and weather better than the weatherproof Avery labels?
