The morning glories have started reaching for the sky...or rather the curtain rod! This was what I had in mind to let them do over the winter but it was too cold near the window at night. Now it's finally warm enough, and it (hopefully) keeps the tips away from the kitties. I love the look of the huge flowers drooping down!
An unusual flower...it seems to be fully open, but is very wrinkly and folded.
And while I was trying to get a close-up of that, look what popped up in front of the lens!
I was thinking the same thing! It's wonderful to have those blooms inside when it's so cold and snowy outside. How much longer will it be for you to be able to plant outdoors?
Usually the more cold-hardy plants can be put outside around the middle of May, but our last frost isn't until early-mid June. It's different every year though. A few years back we had 8 inches of snow on May 23, and then it warmed up so much I planted corn 2 days later! Last year we had a light frost the last week of June.
Interesting! We used to have crazy weather like that when we lived in Colorado. One year we had snow every month except August. We had to take our heavy parkas to watch the 4th of July show.
Just noticed last night that pairs of buds are forming where I pinched off spent flowers!
I got to watch this flower unfold this morning! Usually they are already almost fully open when I get up at 5:15. But this one was still folded up and then was almost open by 6!
New branch forming where I removed a spent flower just a few days ago! Not sure if it has to do with that or the fact that a kitty ate the tip off this stem! (And yes, those are claw marks in that leaf! )
A no name Ipomoea nil opened this morning. It has subtle lavender color along the margin. I like it, but wish it was more robust and looked like how it was represented in Ebay. I'll have to grow out other seeds from the packet to see if I score.
