LOL, I went back to the swap page and after several attempts decided I'm the only one who entered anything in the info box!

Next swap, I'll make more of a point of getting folks to use this feature... I think it's a great place to describe your garden conditions and preferences. I think my suggestion for using it got lost in the middle of my step by step instructions, LOL, but if anybody wants to know how that would work, it could be something like:

At the top of the page for our swap, you’ll see a “Your Profile” section. Click "Manage your swap profile." Add a brief description of yourself and your garden. This is also the place for your “wants list”, which can be very specific ("Purple-speckled Loonybird Vine") or general ("I love purple flowers")

HEY! @Dave

I went to my "sold" list so I knew what to toss in which bag, and I saw Dave had found time to add a second count to the bottom of the page, number "sold" of each item. That's really useful for me, especially since we also use the "seed swap" tool to organize our local plant trades. I tend to offer 5 of something, then add more if there's enough interest, and I lose track of how many I offered altogether, so I can't figure out how many I "sold" by looking at the number remaining.... Then, when it's time to package seeds or dig more plants, I was always wishing I could just see how many I'll need of each item without trying to count up individual requests.

Now we can easily see how many of an item to prepare, as well as sort out who is getting what.

Thanks, Dave!!!

You know, until I read Dave's response re. 1 to 1 trading, I didn't realize where my seemingly random extra tickets were coming from... "plus extra tickets awarded when people call dibs on your seeds." While still different from a 1 for 1 swap, that feature does even things out, giving people who offer a lot of seeds, or especially popular / choice seeds, a chance to claim some extra seeds in return.

Our local plant and seed swaps (which started in DG and continue here) have never been a 1 for 1 kinds of thing. They are more "seed sharing parties," with everybody bringing collected seed and extra commercial seed in the hopes that it will find a home in somebody's garden.

@dave
I've skimmed this thread, am unsure if these few suggestions have already been brought up and apologize if they have:
1. Is it possible to add a 'delete' column and some kind of 'update this list' button to remove more than one item at a time? If not, how about a 'delete all' button? Editing items line by line is time consuming and since my list (and probably others') is so big it might be easier for me to just start over.
2. Is a 'duplicate this item' column a possibility? It might help when you've joined more than one swap and want to offer the same items in each one instead of editing quantity when one swap is over and the next about to begin. I guess that would also entail an 'update this list' button.
I also like the idea of sorting by latin. I've never heard of some of these common names and, frankly, some are kind of silly ie: Common Cosmos. Who says that? Smiling
Can you tell I'm getting ready for swapping?
Thanks.

I really like the idea of being able to delete multiple items! My swap list has become pretty long, and there are a lot of things that were one-time offers on it.

Unfortunately one of the reasons I am not doing the swaps is because of the time it takes to add and delete things. Way too many clicks for me Thumbs down

This has been added. Go to your swap list and scroll to the bottom and click on "Access the mass delete tool". From that page you can select all or select the ones you want gone, and click the button at the bottom to delete the selected ones.

Still in progress on this one.

I also like the idea of sorting by latin.

This has come up a few times before. I would be able to do this, but due to the nature of how the swap is setup that's not really possible, because some plants are linked from the plants database and other plants are just typed in names. Sorting on such a set of data is actually quite complicated. So, I just sort on whatever is being printed, which is the common name followed by the latin name.

Yay for the mass delete button!! That may be worth a little update announcement on the main page, or at the top of the swap page? I wouldn't have noticed it there at the bottom of the page if I hadn't been following this thread.

Thank you!!!

Works great! I just excised a huge list of seeds I don't expect to offer again. Thanks Dave.

I just posted about it in an upcoming swap I'm in. I also cut 2/3 of my swap list, all things that were one-time offerings.

We've adapted the seed swap tool pretty well to use for our twice-yearly plant swaps (more like plant sharing parties, with food).

Are you serious, or do you mean the tool should read my mind and enter 25 items automagically?

Meaning open one page and add all your seeds instead of one at a time with all the clicking.

I guess the clicks to add an item don't bother me. Having to do so many clicks to remove items, though -- that I'm glad is no longer needed!

boy the grammar in that sentence was convoluted and probably wrong. I'm going to bed. LOL

I'm so happy that I dragged my feet cleaning my list up!

I had hoped that a delete multiple option would be offered before the new trading season.

Thank you Dave!

@dave thank you SO much for adding the mass delete this year! (Deleting items was a dreaded task in the past because it takes so long to do them one at a time.) I didn't even notice the new feature was there until I was 3/4 of the way through deleting my items one by one, LoL, but I'll know for next time, now! So, so, so happy to have this feature now! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!
