Dave, did you just add the " Packet Type Totals: " to the sold page? I swear that I didn't see it before and was going to ask for that very feature.

Regardless, I LOVE IT! Hurray!
Thank You! Green Grin!

That's really odd because I was using that page a lot and even using the browser's "find" feature to search plant names and it never showed up. Does that list populate and update during the swap or only after the swap ends?

@Danita, I'm so glad you asked that! I've never noticed it but have wanted that feature. I'd never looked below my list of who got what before.

I remember now: I added that feature because I wanted it myself for when I was getting my collection ready to send to poisondartfrog. I figured it would be convenient to know how much of each sort I needed, put them all together and then divide them out for each person. Worked great!

@Dave, is there any chance you could add the ability to sort by Perennial, Annual, Shrub, Vegetable, Tree? I'm not a veggie grower much and it would rule out a lot.

I'm sorry, the swap system doesn't currently support categorization at all.

@Dave, is there a way for the program to allow a 1 packet for 1 packet swap?

I have run a commercial seed swap on the GW for the last 7 years. I have to take seeds in and look at wish lists that the players send to me to try and find matches. It's time consuming and the players don't always get seeds that they will actually grow out. It would be so nice to be able to host it here and have the players only receive seeds they wanted to grow. I love the swap system here but with only commercial seeds being offered a 1 for 1 seems to be more fair to all players involved.

I may have already asked this question and forgotten your answer. If so, I apologize. My aging brain doesn't recall the way it used to. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Hi Lisa -- I don't know the answer to your question, but the above sentence made me wonder if you are thinking all the swapping here is for commercial seeds, which is not the case (although any given swap can specify commercial seeds only). Smiling

The answer is no, it doesn't support that, and almost certainly never will. It was designed from the ground up to be different, with ticket multipliers per day plus extra tickets awarded when people call dibs on your seeds.

If this has been asked & answered here before & I just missed it I apologize. Is there anyway to get tickets back if you used them on another members offered seeds who then drops. Out of the swap? I'm not asking because of only a couple (it was 13). Sorry, not trying to make waves, i was very happy & excited with my first group swap & you guys are all great. The Host was awsome & I deffinatly don't envey the job she had & all the hard work. *Blush* Thank You! Group hug Thank You!
Happy Gardening :-)

If you spend tickets on items from another trader who then drops out (by clicking on "Leave this swap") then in fact your tickets are refunded to you. That's the only circumstance where tickets can be refunded.

Aw, Colleen! Lovey dubby Group hug

@Dave - in the instance she was talking about, the member never left the swap (so the tickets weren't returned), they simply put their items in the swap, people claimed dibs on the items, the member didn't participate, and the member didn't send seeds in that they owed to the other members. It was frustrating or sad for (nearly) everyone involved.

That is indeed frustrating and sad. That happened with a couple traders in the poisondartfrog seed swap, as well.

The software has no mechanism for dealing with that.

I wonder if there could be be something like a required "check-in" about two weeks before the swap starts. If a member doesn't "check-in" within a week, then the host gets a notice. If contact can't be made via tree-mail, email, etc, then the host could remove the member from the swap. It seems like some people sign up months ahead of time, add seeds and then forget about it or have bad things (like house fires) happen.

I think two weeks is too far out. They may confirm, but then forget about it. Maybe on the day that the swap actually opens for trading would be better. I say this because here in the Mid-Atlantic group, we also use the swap tool for live-plant, in-person swaps.
