Hi Cybrczch!
I have better luck taking the plants outside...which in zone 5 might not always be an option for you! When I lived in the Arctic Tundra of NC I would wait for a shaft of light to fall on the living room carpet..put the plant in the shaft of light and the camera would (usually) only see the plant and all the busy background would be dark. Great job on growing your Vanda's..I'm envious!
I took some new pictures this morning of re-runs from last month still looking great...

Gorgeous plants and flowers, Lindsey.

I am off to continue moving orchids inside. I moved about 200 in yesterday and have about that many more to move. I am making progress, at least with the orchids. There are approximately 500 other tropical plants to move in after the orchids have been settled in. I still have to build the temporary, garage greenhouse that will be home to 30-40 smallish plumeria, rooted cuttings and seedlings. I will have 6-8 blooming/seed-pod laden plumeria in the solarium and there are 3-4 dozen large plants that will be bagged and then brought inside.

This is just a bloom from a plain ole phal I rescued. All my orchids must have gotten just enough of a dose of cooler weather because they are putting out bloom spikes like there is no tomorrow. LOL

Looking great, Anna. What a pretty bloom. Your plants look fantastic. Wish I could send you all my Phals - I'm about ready to give up on them after this summer.

Geeze Anna, where were you when I was desperate to get rid of about 15 Vanda? I've got 3 phals.. barely hanging on.. the worst looking one of the bunch got crown rot this summer and is either putting out a new lateral growth or a spike.. it's too soon to tell.

Nice Phal!

My Spiranthes odorata keep on opening in the greenhouse, and the Anise scent is really nice!

LOL..indeed , Anna! I took them to one of our orchid club meetings and sold them all to 3 different people.
Ursula, I love your Sprianthes with that blue background. It reminds me of something from a Disney movie that features ice castles and princess' in fluffy ice blue gowns.

I'm with you with the Phal. situation. I would guess that I have 10X more problems with them than the trouble I have with the Cattleya Alliance. In fact, I simply no longer grow the standard Phal., only the compact/subcompact ones that do well mounted.

I walked by the Phal table at my local Home Depot today and noticed a sign of instructions that in part read "full sun". In fine print it said "requires at least 6 hours of sun daily". The only orchids on the table were Phals. Perhaps that counter balances the ice cubes. Shrug! Sighing!

Rolling on the floor laughing Whistling That's a good way to replace those "bought" Phals. on a regular basis.

Yeah, that's what always came to mind for me when I'd see the signs "easy care, 3 ice cubes per week" on those Phals. Great marketing scheme - kill off the plants so people will buy more . . ?? Blinking

That is like the landscapers around here, I am sure they are inventing work for themselves. We have so many newcomers arriving here from "off" and they are not familiar with how fast things grow. The landscapers tend to suggest things that quickly get out of hand - unless, of course, you hire the same landscapers to keep them in check. Whistling
