Thanks DND. The part I was confused about was which seed swap are we talking about & what year. But i guess it doesn't really matter since i am sure we all love talking about the seeds and sharing what we have managed to sprout, right Shrug!
Happy Gardening :-)

It isn't super strict, but generally it is good to post the results in the swap threads for the swap in which you received the seeds for those plants so that the people whose seeds you planted can benefit from seeing the joy and success you are having growing their old seeds.

Since most of our members come back for each swap, it can be a little bit of a moot point at present.

That reminds me, though, I forgot to take pictures yesterday of the rutabaga that I planted late in the season and is trying to grow ( @bxncbx ). The warm weather we have been getting must have spurred its growth/regrowth, but they are only about an inch in diameter, at present. Maybe I will get lucky and they will fill out on the spring for an earlier than normal harvest.

Had to set some out of trays because of to much water Other jugs are open for the rainwater I may cover them again ,
Plant seeds like Beard'stongue do not need temperature's lower than the 30's
Those I will cover again ,
I do not have any new seedlings showing outside ,, March will tell .

Here's a picture of one of the rutabagas... I debated plucking it, but it was so far out of the dirt I wasn't sure it wouldn't get frostbitten in a week or two anyway.

Exciting to see what y'all are doing!

The weather HAS been weird. I hope we'll have enough cold weather to do my ws jugs some good. I have some seeds in the crisper for a few weeks just in case.

Question: I'm wondering if they all need to be MOIST stratified or if the chill will be enough? Does is depend on the seed?

The idea with me becomes keeping the seedlings from being in contact with direct frost , The most important of all that is .

Leslie The chill is plenty for most , I showed earlier a Daylily I germinated with no stratification at all ,, and my hyperions in a good season will also
A time of stratifying at 40 degrees is plenty for most , Moisture is definitely a must

Frost breaks plastic so you know what it can do to seedlings . You would not let it frost on tender or baby skin either , so don't let that happen to seedlings with undeveloped new roots .

It has been raining all morning here

@pistil. These are the Druetts silene seeds that I dibbed on in this swap.

I put them in moist paper towel in the fridge about a month ago. I noticed some green in there while grabbing milk this morning. They sprouted in the cold fridge!

Here they are planted to grow under lights for the winter. ....

Colleen, those look like happy, healthy seedlings! Great job.

It might be too soon to say, but they even look like they are getting enough light so far, which can be hard to accomplish.

Have planted more than usual for me but not much has sprouted yet. So far only Godetia & 1 daylily from Lalambchop1. Most were wintersown so I'm not expecting seedlings any time soon!

I just pulled something from my garden today that I thought was a weed, but when I pulled it, it smelled edible, if that makes any sense. It looked like a small, narrow-leafed, oak-leaf lettuce. (I've never grown an oak leaf lettuce before, but I did get seeds from Rick for a variety of oak leaf lettuce last year...) Now I have to check my charts and see what I planted there and whether or not it was something that was supposed to be there. Here's a picture of it:

It's a weed, right? Blinking Rolling my eyes.

I used to grow oakleaf lettuce in the South. The leaves were a lot more oak-like than that. I haven't tried it up North (it wasn't a favorite) but I didn't think it's particularly winter hardy, especially as far north as you are. The plant looks a bit far along for a seed to have just sprouted with the warm temps. I'm guessing a weed, but that doesn't mean it isn't edible. Sticking tongue out

Elena, here are some daylilies I sowed Jan. 28th. I LOVE this wintersowing. I do have to admit that these are way ahead of others I did the same day but almost all the DL jugs have sprouts now.

I'm having trouble with fungus in my wintersown pots. These have only rec'd rainfall since they were put out. Both of these pics were shot through the hole in the jug. In some jugs with tiny seeds I used white sand to help distribute them. On the whole those have worse fungus than the ones without.

OMG, I have ws all kimds of seeds starting in the early part of Jan. I will have to go check on them to see if any have sprouted here yet. We have had cold days & some warm ones here too. The nights always freeze here so far. In case you haven't guessed, this is my first year tryimg ws. I'm gonna take a guess here and say you just leave them out there undisturbed, right? Thank You! I tip my hat to you.

Leslie I was going to wintersow daylilies also but waited too long. I decided to start them indoors so that they sprout before April. They are taking longer than normal but it's a bit chilly in the room they are in so that might explain it.

Colleen, yes just leave them alone if nothing has sprouted. Some perennials may not sprout until next Spring if they didn't get enough cold cycles. I checked my jugs this past weekend & nothing was up. But I'm not expecting to see any sprouts until April/May. I'm actually hoping some don't sprout until next year. If they all sprout I don't know where I'd plant everything! Rolling on the floor laughing

I heard you on the room thing if they all sprout Elena. Since we've had a warm winter I have lots of seeds chillin in the fridge for a while longer before I sow them. I also have a couple of trays under lights.
