Holy moly. You could start a garden and fill it in with just that list alone. Something tells me that you are not done Rolling on the floor laughing
Those are very nice.
So far my list is empty. Have some garden reshuffling to do next spring and cut some sod to start a new bed and expand my seedling bed. Working with seeds for sure next spring.

I have a few coming that I ordered late Summer but put them on my 2016 list. If I can quit ordering Lilium I might have enough left to add some more daylilies! Or we could all go out to Pennsylvania to check out Peter's blooms! nodding nodding

There's a couple plants I'd like to add, but I don't have anything for certain. Too much going on over the winter! I became a grandma (my first!- a grandson)! I'm teaching a long term math (not my degree subject) and I have to take six credit hours for my license. And I'm planning on spending time practicing this new grandma-ing thing. I plan to have to practice often and frequently! Smiling

I am planning on extensive breeding with what I already have. I have a list of those here somewhere... Gotta figure out a cross to make for Sage! Thumbs up Here's hoping...

Peter and James,

I haven't been on here very long, and don't follow religiously, but I was wondering how long you have been growing daylilies
and also wondering what your goals are? Are we talking to the future hybridizers that will be in every garden someday, or is
it just a hobby, or are you creating display gardens? I have seen the threads about your seedlings, and you showed me your
web list, so I know you have an extensive collection of really nice newer releases, so was just wondering what is in your future?

Interesting question!! Thumbs up

But I think perhaps that, for a person who isn't an established hybridizer yet, the line between hybridizing as a hobby and seeing oneself as a 'serious' hybridizer is not always easy to answer...
When are you 'serious' about it? Is that defined by the number of crosses you make, by the number of seedlings you grow, or the number of plants you register..?

Or are you only serious when you are able to quit your job and can live from selling your plants.. Hilarious!
(That last one sounds wonderful to a newbie like me, but I guess it involves a lót of hard, hard work, a lot of stress over the weather and changing 'costumer tastes' and never being able to go on vacation! Thumbs down Hilarious! )

Perhaps it is all about intent: which one of you takes his/her breeding program serious and aims to register new seedlings with the intent to sell them (and preferably make a profit Crossing Fingers! )?

LOL a little of both. I have no interest in going full time into the daylily business but that doesn't mean I can't dab and dabble.

My interests are all over the place though. I love patterns; I like cooler hues; I enjoy teeth; and lately I have really been interested in color changers and color breaks.

Hybridizing and seeing flowers on seedlings for the first time is such a thrill. And if I get lucky, the seedling turns out to be a special plant with a lovely flower, I think I'd be overjoyed. This is all just a hobby for me. If someday my hobby can self finance, that would be awesome. But for now, I take it one day at a time and enjoy the ride while I still can. I am glad and feel blessed that I can do this in my lifetime.

Mine is a mix of both, My wife loves toothy, I love big green throats. I did get a greenhouse built recently to help me Get a few full seedling beds so I can start narrowing in on what Id like to do. I'm guessing its going to half toothy, half green throats/big flowers.

But in the end most of what I buy it a mixed purpose.. I buy it because I like it, with hopes of using it.
