huge waterlily form in grey velvet?
hmmmm....let me think if that would be cool.... Hilarious!
I'd pick the little barfy drool face if it didn't creep me out so much, but yes, Kevin--that would be cool Thumbs up

It would also be cool if you got some viable seed and grew something, anything really--I'll 'compost' it for you if it doesn't measure up Smiling

Drooling I'll post this face for you Dirt as that grey fuzzy waterlily type would be tempting.

Now if the SEEDS COOPERATE!! Actually wulfenii has that lovely sort of lotus flower closed bud in the center of the rosette. Helen always complained that 'Purdy's 90-1' and 'Engle's 13-2' (both similar to 'Aymon Correvon) were slow growers but I've never had any problem with any of them as far as growth. Wulfenii is a stinker though, just one or two increases. I have thought of tring crossing some of the silvers like 'Silver Song' to a montanum to try and recreate this sort of cross but maybe with better fertility because they're tetraploids.

That would be awesome Kevin!!

Well, if our neighbors didn't think I was crazy enough before, this week took care of that. We got some snow (3-4" maybe) a week or so ago. Then temps in the mid 40s this week and most of it melted - especially the snow covering my semps. So on Thursday and again today, me and hubby shoveled the remaining snow off the yard and threw it on my semps. This coming week is supposed to be highs in the single digits, lows -5 to -10 below. YIKES! My babies needed snow cover. So if you don't hear from me for a while it's because somebody reported me and I got locked up! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

I really enjoy seeing all your beautiful semps. I hope mine are buried for months to come.... Hilarious!
Usually they're already buried for the year.

Here is 'Bedivere' earlier this month. Love the symmetry!

Julia I love the winter photos. Really love the enlarged photo of 'Aymon Correvon'. Love that fuzzy/velvety texture.

Kevin can't wait to see if you get seedling from the 'Aymon Correvon' seeds. What did you cross it with?

Chris, Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Hope you are still with us. But I sure understand scraping all the snow onto the semp beds. Wow, that is some crazy temp swings.

Lynn,

'Aymon Correvon' sets so few seeds that it is one I let the bees go at it. Ideally I would have liked to self pollinate it but its pollen looks a little suspect too. In the past I've tried crossing every flower with its own pollen and got BUPKISS. So I'm doing plan B, literally the BEES! I hate to do this but this is one that I'd love to see ANY seedling develop.

Chris, Love the moving the snow technique! I have the Remay covering the newly germinated iris and daylily seedlings as we are supposed to get nasty cold here although NOTHING compared to you.

So we should be seeing seedlings from 'Aymon Correvon' that will hopefully be the bees knees. Big Grin

I miss you all but I'm lucky that I have Bev, Lynn and Cynda right here in Salem so we can talk semps every now and then.

Some fun things in the seedling patch for you to see and judge for the clinic. We'll be posting the details in a few weeks. We hope the schedule will give you time to see everything and visit and OH YES EAT!!! I think the spouses especially enjoy this last aspect.

I have noticed during the winter that my semps all look the same. I took this picture about 15 minutes ago.

And it is still snowing.

I just drove the all wheel drive car in the snow for the first time and it did very well. We put some killer tires on it. Those kind that they let you use instead of chains or studs.
