Yeah, I figure it will fill up fast. The old one was just 3.5 x 8 feet, so I'll have a lot more space, though.

The biggest pains with the old shed were that I had to pull out the wheelbarrow before I could take out the lawnmower, and I had to wrestle out the mower because the door was on the side near the house. I'm glad those days are gone!

Nice! Is the floor sitting on pilings? It looks like it isn't in direct contact with the ground. How do you plan on keeping critters from taking up residence under the shed?

No, it's sitting on ground-contact landscape timbers, which were set on cement pavers set in gravel.

I haven't decided how to block off access to critters....or whether to bother to try. Chipmunks have already started to dig nearby.
I did take advantage of the space underneath to dispose of the small rocks I've dug up over the years, one to get rid of my rock pile, and two because I thought that a rocky surface might deter critter excavations.

I wouldn't really mind all that much if critters took up residence, though. I don't have a dog, and my cat only goes outside on a leash or in a cat tent, so I wouldn't have to worry about pet-wildlife conflicts. Besides, the fox pups at Donner's house were so darn cute!!

Here's how far we got today....There will be windows on each side to let in light.

suh-weet new shed!

Saw Lisa's owl on another thread... looks like the half-marble eyes are working out... hope her straw ? goose is no longer one-eyed.

I've got a little project coming up for Mom & Dad. We're definitely bringing the two lounge chairs that they pretty much live in during comfortable weather. However, the "terrace" is a joke... about 2 feet wide and 7 feet long. It's really just a "landing strip" if you want to step out the back door. You could maybe put a lawn chair up against the non-moving part of the patio door, but I think even that would be tight.

I've inquired, and I'll get an estimate for getting the concrete enlarged or adding pavers (done by their people), or I'll DIY pavers (well, with paid help, but my design and supervision) around the concrete -- I think pavers will be prettier. Might wait and see first if they have any interest in spending time on a sunny terrace rather than their customary shaded screen porch. They can actually set up the loungers so they're mostly on the grass, and the guys who mow will just stack them on the so-called terrace. (They are REALLY accommodating at this place!)

You might consider putting up a screened, 'portable' gazebo if they prefer shade.

I think that's a great idea! My daughter just put one up at her house because mosquitoes really bother her.
The guys who mow shouldn't mind because there would be less grass to mow in the summer due to the shade.

Same here!

We're almost ready to put the roof on the shed!
I just ordered some plastic lattice-style landscape edging to cover the area between the shed siding and the ground.
Given that our daughter's coon hound mix comes over fairly often, I decided I probably should discourage foxes and other wildlife from taking up residence underneath it. It'll revert back to being a chipmunk haven Smiling

The landscaping will take a while to complete, in part because I have a patch of Jewelweed growing there and I want to let it finish out the summer. I might move the Astilbe growing there, too. I have a lot of perennials waiting in the wings, including Carolina Lupines, Rosa arkansana and Spirea tomentosa.

The hard part will be figuring out which shrubs to put there. My number one goal is to block the view of my neighbor's house. The tall Crepe Myrtles aren't doing the job, partly because the one on the left (not flowering yet) is wimpy due to having grown in the shade of the Japanese Maple. I'm currently conflicted between planting the shrubs I have sitting in pots (Corylus americana and Cornus racemosa), even though it's not an ideal spot for them, and buying something perfect.

Short answer: the landscaping will probably take as long as it does everywhere else in my yard - forever! Smiling

WOW, I downloaded and installed updates for Win 10 for my new computer yesterday, then put it to sleep. Well the obit would say he passed quietly . Angel I couldn't even restart in safe mode to uproot the download. Grumbling I had established a recovery point but couldn't get there. Grumbling I ended up restarting factory settings, what a bummer. Like starting from scratch. I'm hoping that this will correct it. Confused I will be putting my recovery point on a thumb drive from now on.

Ric, much sympathy!
We got the driveway redone, to allow more parking area at the garage (and connect the driveway TO the garage, (instead of the 15 feet of mud/grass/stone we've been using for a year Big Grin ). But Mark is concerned someone could accidentally hit the corner of the garage, so after discussion, a new good sized plastic/ fiberglass tallish urn of plants seems a great idea to cushion in such an incident. Off to shop for a big urn! Thumbs up Rolling on the floor laughing Hurray! Rolling on the floor laughing I find this very amusing.

Sally, Oh my, you poor thing, now you'll have to have something to plant in it. Hilarious!

I had previously thought I had a software conflict by the way this new machine acted. As I said I did allow updates for Win 10 to download and run yesterday. So this time I got all the Dell updates in first and it seems to be running smoothly. I could not get Edge/Exploder to run worth crap so I'm back on Firefox. I still can't get the Win 10 updates to load so I may opt for just searching for applicable security pacts. That said I'll whine. Hilarious! Sadly, Gates is no longer in control. I still have an XP machine sitting in the corner, just in case. My primary machine is Windows 2000 and my laptop is 7-Pro. (I'd get rid of the 2K machine except most of the software on it is either no longer made or too bloody expensive to upgrade!

I don't know how many of you saw it,, but Dave did a video review of the new MINI Cobra weeding tool.

They retail for $21.95 (incl shipping) from the Cobra site. I was thinking of trying to get some wholesale. But, I would need to know how many people would be interested.

I have something similar from the Lorre Market, with a raw wood handle, but extremely sharp and sturdy
Plant it and they will come.
