Donald,
I agree, your clumps look great! I'll bet the racoons didn't dig any of your plants out of the ground last night. My 'Black Plush' was dug out of the ground, the cage was still in place but they dug under it. I potted it in a small container then planted the container, then put the cage back around it.

Beautiful plant, is that 20-25 buds per branch or per scape? If it is per branch how many branches does each scape have?

This is 'Whip City Carnie'. It went crazy adding new fans when I moved into the big container, but so far there is only the single scape and it's not as tall as it should be. I hope it's just adjusting to the new environment. The plant looks really healthy. It's out away from the house, so I hope it doesn't prove to be a deer attractant.

This is the red NOID I was given as a passalong plant. It came from Jack Carpenter about ten years ago and we named it "Ruby Red". It is close to the best red DL we have. This is a nice group of flowers on the plant.

"Ruby Red"

This morning the clouds helped keep the color vivid on a lot of our flowers. Here is Stealth Bomber looking so good--we have several Hanson hybrids and all of them perform wonderfully well here.

Lillian's Vapor Trail

Lillian's Vapor Trail is putting on a stellar show for a second year plant that I wasn't sure would survive the first year. We were sent a terrible plant from a seller on the LA, the worst I have ever received. So, Lillian's Vapor Trail must be a superior plant, indeed, to come back so beautifully. Hats off I tip my hat to you. to Fred Manning for hybridizing this beauty.

We also had a great rain yesterday, last night and this morning. It was still cloudy when I got down to the garden. and I find it almost has to be a cloudy day to get a decent clump shot and keep the blooms from washing out in the photo. Really surprised that most of the blooms in the garden held up so well.

Larry - I agree with others here, Irish Envy is lovely! (And I am green with envy!)

I acquired South Seas not too long ago from a VERY generous member here. The foliage on it definitely appears to be rust resistant because there is a rust bucket growing right next to it (even touching it) and SS foliage is rust free. Mine is sending up a re-bloom scape. This plant was one that I just kind of dismissed when I first got it because I am in awe of those cultivars with patterned faces, but once this cultivar bloomed .... I was impressed. The blooms are really beautiful and so cheerful! A great plant!!!
What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters, compared to what lies within us.

'Irish Envy' was planted in March 2015, so you don't have to have a very old garden to have some really nice clumps. I have shared 'Irish Envy' with two other people already and planted another few fans myself in a different spot.

Malaysian Marketplace--I wish I had a better picture of this, because the flowers are so striking. Also, my camera does not show the true red color.

To date, my clumps have never become large because I keep stripping fans and sending them off. Maybe someday... Big Grin

I too love Irish Envy. Hurray! However, here in Wisconsin (zone 5) I'll never get a clump like that - beautiful. I've had it in the same spot for many years and probably only have 4 or 5 fans. Just so it keeps showing up with blooms every year, I'm happy.

My new monitor should be here tomorrow and I should be able to post photos after it arrives. I finally caught the critter that has been digging up my garden, especially my Daylilies. It was not a raccoon as I had suspected, it was another possum.
