Roses in the Snow, so pretty Lovey dubby The bike is so cute, love it. Took the tour, lots of love, hard work but pretty to see the end results. But wait we're never done with our gardens, always replacing or trying something new. Smiling

Ginny-- Group hug Technology is great when it works and frustrating when it does not. I would get it all going and then what seemed to be the last step, would not work. I just want to get on tablet time, but we have picture files everywhere, too. Sighing!
May God Bless You with some good help!

Linda-- Thank you! This was my first year to have Roses in Snow and Lovey dubby it has been beautiful! You are right a gardener's work is never done! Thumbs up A garden is full of life!
May your garden be blessed with love and success!

I agree @Nhra_20
Dave, you can never have too many lilies. On your thread you said something about lily blooms being set the previous fall.
A southern plant in bloom may equal the length of a northern plant in bloom. But a southern plant grows for a much longer time with a very short dormancy if at all. I think I am not fertilizing enough in the fall. They might be using some of next year's bloom energy to just keep going and grow in the fall. I am going to up my fertilizer in the fall and see if it helps!

May you be blessed with all good things!

Sharon, it's worth a shot. Very true though, your growing season is a lot longer than ours. And obviously a shorter fall and winter period. Which could attribute to a smaller bud count as well. But some varieties just don't put a ton of buds.

Good luck Sharon!

Looking at you first year photos, is that two homes or one? You have come a long way with creating gardens they anchor a home IMHO.

Welcome! to my gardening adventure!

Betty-- It is a double-wide manufactured home. Just one home, first the back goes in, then the front. The backside picture may look odd because they went past where it goes and backed it in. At the time the picture is taken it is across the street. It takes all day to "marry" the outside together. Then it takes about 3 days marrying and trimming the inside together.
Thank You! for looking, I hope you keep coming back!

May you be blessed with a spectacular day!

Hi! Welcome! May today bless you with calm and peace!

This is still an oldie. I should have mentioned the above oldie was 2010. I think I can rather quickly knock out 2011 and 2012.

In the fall of 2010 we had bought a bag or two of daffodils and someone had given my daughter a bag as a house warming gift. They were planted in the ground at the beginning of November... soon to be forgotten. It was a beautiful surprise to see this one day! It was like Christmas all over again. *Blush* ... and yes this was a garden spot.

Hi! Welcome! May today bring smiles to your face and maybe a good giggle, too!

Whistling Whistling Whistling

It is not uncommon for that to happen except those were new blooms and not any bad weather. The culprit is here................ Scale

Scale Thumbs down Thumbs down Thumbs down
About 4 or 5 years ago, I noticed one fall, the leaves did not fall off Myrtle. Granted it was a mild winter, but the tree just looked dark. Researched on line and found scale had hit this area. More research and treatment was unknown. Had found some cases where Bayer tree treatment had shown promise. I had totally lost two smaller myrtles already because I did not know what was on them. I bought Bayer tree treatment and it happened to be the end of Feb./ Beginning of March. Expensive treatment about $25 /30 for the tree. But Myrtle is a wonderful and gorgeous old tree. It worked! I had not had to treat for 3 or 4 years now. Early spring I wondered if scale was back, now I know for sure. Next February a treatment is in order for it. I suppose you can treat at any time, but most effective time for this area is super early spring. If I have to use a systemic I want to use it at the best time for the best result. That actually means using less. I try to be as natural as possible....

I do worry about these guys............Evidence of my leaf cutter bees! Enlarged picture might not be crisp.
