Loving your blooms! I still can't imagine a 4 ft Marigold!

Ginny-- This has been their best year yet! They are tall and the blooms are huge! The tallest ones are my volunteer seedlings. Just a friendly reminder from God, He knows what he is doing. I do save their seeds. I would be more than glad to mail you some in the fall. Eventually I will post pictures of all the colors and types of my giant marigolds, you can pick from any of them. There can be slight variations though because because I grow quite a few colors.

Betty! That plant is Blueberry Smoothie, Althea, Rose of Sharon. Because it is a double it is sterile. This one has been a strange one for me. It has never gotten it's seasons right yet. It is rated to zone 5 , I believe. It is either too hot or too many cold snaps that never last here maybe. It leafed out in January, set buds right away I thought by end of March it would be blooming. It dropped all the buds, they were pretty big, no freeze or frost. Put more leaves out with buds and started blooming about 10 days ago. Another complaint is that not very many blooms open on the same day. With age hope that improves. But Blueberry Smoothie is not being any wiser about growing seasons. (My other Althea's have bloomed out already. They leafed out about six weeks later than this one.) Every year it's timing is way off. It wants to grow twice a year. I am scared it is going to kill itself. The first year I thought maybe nursery or greenhouse effect. But it keeps doing it. I do not know whether it is a thumb up or thumb down. Bloom is beautiful, plant is crazy. I highly recommend some of the doubles they are like carnation trees. Pink double, Ardens-- fantastic coloring because of the way the bloom ages. If anyone has this plant let me know how yours is doing!

Ginny-- I will save you some and give you instructions, too! Very easy to grow. Just do not do like I did the first year. My daughter said get these seeds for marigold bushes. I laughed and said yeah right. They might be big, but there are no 3 foot marigolds. So that year all around the " front" of the beds I planted these Marigolds. Every 15 to 18 inches there was a Marigold. And they easily became at least 3 foot bushes, you could not see the flower beds.

This is Majestic Hue, one of the tallest and largest daylilies in my garden! Almost everyday had a slightly different color shade. I captured a few of them here for you. A daylily that seemed color sensitive to its environmental changes of temperature and humidity. A lot of daylilies may have one different color that comes out based on temperature. This one seems to be one of my most varied.

My daughter and I had some extra time and went thrifting! I am so excited probably one of our best garden hauls! Look what we found...

I have a St. Francis, a Mother's Day gift, in the yard. I have always wanted a Mary, too! She needs a little work on hands and more waterproofing all over, but Mary was $4


Next there were two giant brass coated planters, Again $4 each, (5 gal bucket is just to show size) drill holes in bottom and Rust-Oleum paint in and out and they will be ready to go!

Reoccurring price $4 each, outdoor stand, 2 large galvanized containers. They will also get holes and Rust-Oleum!


The First Impression yellow roses are starting to peek through the purple Coneflowers. The Lantana is in full bloom. Someone crawled in the Althea, and the Mandevilla is blooming!



Tropical Milkweed seed pods are opening! I love the look of these pink lilies, as they age they look multi- colored!

It is a great container plant! Blooms alot all summer. Here pretty much treated as annuals. I have put them in the ground and mulched. They made it but the next year slow to bloom.

Yes, I will post pictures of the finishes. I have some other projects first. I hope I will not need these containers until early fall. Thinking of doing some plant shifting. I have container roses and those two brass plated containers are very deep. I would like the roses to be able to take advantage of that. While it's hot, I have lots of time to dream about what to do.

Ginny-- I think you know that better than anyone with all you have going on at your home! And for me I find if it looks like I am done, there is always a plant I can move or put in to make it look better. It is so much fun growing things!
