Dave, the new search is simply wonderful!
Thank you!! I tip my hat to you.

I couldn't figure out why Daylily Country Cavalier is not coming up in the result when search criteria is entered for a bud count 41-45?

(It is on the database with a bud count 41-45.)

Janice, did you get it figured out?

If not, please copy and paste what terms you used for your search. The terms appear in green letters in a grey box right above the results. Copy those into your reply here so I can see all the fields you searched through, then I might be able to replicate the situation.

Dave, no it is not working, I think .
The only search I am doing is for all Daylilies with a bud count of 41-45.
And a Daylily which is on the ATP Database with a budcount of 41-45 is Country Cavalier.
It does not come up when I do the search.?

I know I asked Dave about why not all daylilies show up, like why it doesn't go on to page 2 and 3 etc. It limits the search to 100 and he explained it here:
http://garden.org/thread/view_...
So you have to narrow down your search somewhat, like maybe by foliage type, or color.

It works great Dave. Hurray! Thank you so much.
Can we add the field 'Bloom Color' to the list of search characteristics?

Bloom Color is part of the primary plant details and adding that into the search query is in the works.

In the interest of more efficient searches by bloom color in the future, can something be done to deter the use of that info box as a multiple-choice field? I see entries where people have checked off two or three colors instead of using the bicolor and multicolor write-in options. I can imagine people searching for white flowers in the future and getting frustrated when they're given a list of red, blue, purple, and orange flowers with just a speck of white in the center. That's what's going to happen if people continue checking the orange box and the white box, for example, instead of choosing "bi-color" and entering "orange and white."

Are you talking about limiting the multi-choice option for all plants or just some such as daffodils , because some plants most definitely come in several colors?

Ideally, if there's more than one color, you should use the multi-color option and type in all of the colors rather than checking more than one box.

I thought the multi-color meant exactly that (a flower was multi color like in pansies, they are often a combination of many colors .

Oh, I see what you mean. You're talking about plants like Freesias, which come in red or white or yellow, etc. Yes, you're right. In those cases, someone who's looking for white flowers will be happy to see Freesias on the list. I was cautioning against the use of multiple boxes for blooms like the ones on those pansies.

In view of the two separate cases, I guess there is no programming solution. Preventing the use of the info box as a multiple-choice field would complicate the entries for Freesias and other such plants that come in separate colors.
