You may notice your plumeria starting to wake up with the longer daylight hours and the warmer temperatures now. What warmer temperatures??? Well, they will be here soon. The tips start to glisten as the plant is preparing to make new leaves and inflos!!
Now is a good time to start the fertilizing regime.
I have been using the Dynamite 13-13-13 or a similar timed-release fertilizer with good results. Throughout the summer I supplement this with horse manure as I get it. Fish emulsion is great too.

Pretty soon we'll see blooms!

good morning, my little seedlings are still doing good, they are about 2" tall not ready to bloom yet *S*
I have each one in their own pot, how fast do they grow.

What is the best potting medium for Plumeria?

Doris - they will grow quite fast if you give them plenty of space for their roots. So you're doing the right thing by giving them each their own pot. You may want to step them up again later this summer if you see good growth. Remember, they may not all grow at the same rate. Some may be quite compact which is a desirable trait, really.

Lynn, the main requirement for plumeria soil is that it is well draining. They absolutely hate to sit in wet soil. You can use any good potting soil and then amend it with perlite or lava rock (or even sand) to provide good drainage.

Here is my beautiful Plumeria obtusa 'Singapore' which is still fast asleep, but always late in waking up. I was thrilled it didn't suffer any cold damage.

I don't have any plumeria to grow yet but i' m thinking of trying those beauty. Are they fragrant? i love fragrant blooms. How hard to grow them from seeds and how long it takes to flower grown from seeds.

Any advice is greatly appreciated from everyone.

Cora, they are very easy from seed but it will take around 3-5 years to bloom. It might be better for your sanity if you started with a rooted or grafted plant or even a cutting.

They are extremely fragrant, and every variety has a slightly different scent from the next.

In your area you will have to protect them from frost in the winter.

Hi all, Everyone in the USA seems obsessed with buying cutting from Ebay. Now in the UK I can understand it as Plumeria are few and far between but in the US you have so many fanatsic nurseries selling quality grafted plants why do people take a chance on ebay where they could be sold any old plant when you can buy from a reputable trusted source?

Good point Stuart. There are just so many tempting pictures on Ebay I am sure people have a hard time deciding. And some of the sellers are great, but there are a lot of fly-by-nighters.... Caveat emptor.

When I spend my money on plumeria, it is to trusted sellers only. Anyone who wants to know which nurseries and sellers I recommend may feel free to send me a C-mail.

There used to be a saying That went something like " A photo cannot lie" but unfortunately these day that is not true. From experience Ebay is full of fly by night sellers. If I lived in the US Ebay would be bottom of my list for buying plants as you have so many great sellers. As a lot of you know I am a commercial seller in the UK so have experience of buying in the USA and I have to say you really do get what you pay for. As Hetty says above if you want to know where to buy the best plants in the USA for virtually the same as you pay for an unknown cutting on Ebay just ask.
I have bought in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and the USA and after buying literally 1000's of plants I keep going back to the US as they really are the best quality every time.
