Patti,
Soup is a good fallback food!

Pepper,
My daughter makes a mean brisket!
It's raining here and mild. Amazing! I'd like snow for Christmas too.

Cindy,
Laughing, all I have to do to get DH to cook is set out a package of grillable meat. I don't need to say a word...
Absolutely! We're still eating leftovers!

Pepper,
Cookies are work!! I haven't done more than get the recipes out that I'll make.

I get a reprieve from baking for a couple of days while I clean house. DH is going to bake a batch of chocolate chip pecan sandies. He does bake one batch of cookies for the holidays. We used to go really heavy on chocolate - his "Death by Chocolate" triple chocolate chip cookies were always favorites but you could only eat one and had a good "buzz" for an hour or so. I made candy cane snowballs yesterday for the first time and they're very tasty. Will still get the chocolate fix with chocolate pecan pie for desserts.

Hope everyone is holding up good with this weather. Got quite a bit of ice here. Had freezing rain and sleet until early afternoon then it switched to snow for awhile. Now it's all solidifying.

@pepper23 - hope you're taking it easy walking and/or driving. Freezing rain sleet are nothing to fool with......

We had a lot of snow on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, but it's been ok otherwise. Pretty, but still nothing to walk in alot

I was out in it long enough to go to and from work today and that was it. I've been home and mostly inside since. Tomorrow I may go sledding here but depends on how cold it feels to me when I step outside. Hilarious!

ah - sledding. Used to go tobogganing when my kids were young, but not since my 20's. I've thought a lot of going skating a lot in the past couple of years, but don't because of my knees. I just couldn't take the chance of falling on them.... Sticking tongue out

Had to pick up a prescription and do a few other things. A bit nasty, but not horrid. Left at ~ 1 PM. Cam back ~ 4:30 and OMG! Temp dropped even more and with added snow and sleet roads were a real problem. I don't worry about me (I lived in Michigan and Massachusetts and know what Winters can be) but the clowns out there. Particularly first snow storm of the year. Freaking nuts! 45 MPH and tailgating. Grumbling Grumbling Grumbling

45 is nothing. 70+ is especially when it's semis. Very few normal sized vehicles going that fast today but more than a fair share of semis.

I love sledding. Could care less about skiing but sledding is fun. Hilarious! It's even more fun running my sled over my nephew's when he's here sledding with me. Drives him nuts. And it's fun to grab some snow before going down after him and shoving snow on him. Yep, I'm a sneaky one!! Rolling on the floor laughing

Kansas City drivers drive like maniacs. Green Grin! But I also drove in New Jersey and Boston so I can deal with it.
I just detest some clown on my rear on a day like today. Some jerk pulled right out in front of me today and I had to hit the brakes. Even though I was pumping them, I still slid nearly off the road. Had someone been tailgating, they would have creamed me.

hahahaha you think YOU know winters? Try living in "Winterpeg" otherwise known as Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Born & raised there...... now That's winter...... 7 months at a time lol Of course I can't speak about the Arctic, but I do know Winnipeg winters... 6 ft snow drifts, streets and stores closing down, etc.
I think that's one of the reasons I moved to Calgary. Of course here - you start your day wearing a parka, and end at suppertime in flip flops, shorts and a t-shirt........

Haha Susan. Yes much of our weather here is child's play compared to much of Canada.

I used to travel to Edmonton a lot in Winter. Thought it was a reprieve to return to Boston and snow drifts only 5 - 10 feet. Green Grin! Where I lived (NE of Boston < 10 miles from Atlantic - just North of the town that was the setting for "The Perfect Storm") we got creamed with Nor'Easters. Some where I have a pic of me shoveling snow off my roof. 5 feet deep. And piles so high where I tried to dig out a car, I could no longer throw it to the top of the pile. Rolling on the floor laughing

hahaha yeah, so true...... BUT, in Winnipeg, the summers are awesome! We actually have 4 months of true summer. Kids can wear bathing suits from 7am to 10pm in Winnipeg.
I miss that in Calgary. We don't get to plant until mid-June and pull everything up by mid-Sept. Growing tomatoes here is "iffy" at best, and although I have 3B zone at my home, it can also snow in mid-summer. That, and summer-like winters. It's a real hodge-podge here. Almost miss Winnipeg for the definite seasons, rather than Calgary. In Calgary you can have all 4 seasons in one day....... Whistling Rolling on the floor laughing

Popping in.
My weather was pretty much like Pepper's. It mostly sleeted ALL day with a bit of snow overnight. Even the winds wasn't bad.

I took down all the Christmas decorations yesterday. I got started on a few and before I knew it I had stripped the tree too, lol! It still has lights and I'll leave it lit till it's nice enough to get it to the garage.

Have a great day!

Sleet/freezing rain for a several hours yesterday and then it warmed up just enough to rain. Lots of slushy roads and standing water but no torrents. Went out yesterday afternoon - not bad but very sloppy. Very light snow falling right now and it's supposed to fall below freezing tonight.

Sunshine and blinding white today. Plus a lot of happy birds. Hilarious!

Today I go for my MRI on both knees, and see my Dr for more meds. Ran out of these, and ouch....... even these don't do anything for me anymore. Thumbs down

We are finally getting a thin layer of snow on the ground. It was splitting and going around us early this morning.

Yesterday it warmed up enough to melt on the driveway. They plowed our roads so they aren't slushy.

Pepper,
We started feeding the birds yesterday. Hundreds of sparrows and dozens of starlings are here. Guess they got to eat too :o)

Oh Susan,
Do you need new knees? I hope you can get the pain under control. I suddenly have bum hip.

DH just showed me the mouse he caught in the garage. It had filled a small box with shelled corn. He's re-setting the trap.

Have a great day everyone!

Just started to snow here - fine stuff, not big fluffy flakes (yet).
A lot of the standing water from the other day has drained off. Luckily, our ground hasn't froze much yet. Not complaining at all as the folks south and west of here have horrible conditions to deal with.
Caught my first shrew in the little GH (which stays heated during the winter). Have caught 8 mice and hopefully have eliminated the local population but the shrew was a first. Had noticed him/her wandering around in the GH, looked them up and baited a trap with leftover Polish sausage. Read that they are carnivores and figured the sausage aroma would entice them to the trap.
Collected about 10 gallons of rainwater from the barrels yesterday as I figured the barrels would freeze up soon. My indoor plants will be happy.
Now we're getting big fluffy flakes.

Sally - saw my Dr's fill-in yesterday, and he asked if I was wanting replacement knees - told him "Yes, please!!" Sighing!
I see my regular doctor on Monday, and hopefully my results are in by then. If I am going to get new knees, I hope I'm healed in time to move, and I want to move SOON! Sticking tongue out Sighing!
