Charley! Ouch! I badly bruised my tailbone, in 1999, and that was horribly painful! Slipped on a rock on a white water rafting trip, and it still gives me trouble once in a while. I can't even begin to imagine the pain you're in with a cracked tailbone, Charley!! Praying for a speedy recovery, friend!

It smells delightful!!!


And it looks a little weird because I've been covering the scapes with a mail crate -- it bloomed before I took it off at 7:30 this morning

Agreed!! Too bad my DFH is in The Netherlands today. We hoped he could see it bloom before he left (yesterday!) but of course, it bloomed the next day lol.

I sent him some pictures but I can't send him its delightful perfume!!!

With the number of buds on scape 1 and 2, I'm hoping he'll get a whiff before they're gone for the season....

Thank you, thank you. Mother Nature did a lot of it but it's my first born.

Yes, very very new. It's my first named cultivar to ever bloom and the rabbits have been eating everything so I've been stalking and protecting for about 5 days (poor Joan Senior would have been the first to bloom )

Technically, my first daylilies were NoIDs -- purchased from a big box store. One of them bloomed earlier in the season. This one, though -- this is spectacular!!!!

Gorgeous, Jackie! Love its color and spidery form. It looks really huge! I am so happy for you that the rabbits leave this bloom alone. It would be so heartbroken to have the FFE damaged by anything. Have you ever considered scattering onion peels and/or chopped up rotted or unused onions around the daylilies to deter rabbits? They hate onion and garlicky smell. This method works really well for me.

Hi Karen I didn't know about the onions! I will go buy some now because they're abundant and inexpensive

I actually don't know if they'll leave the bloom alone. I don't want to risk it, so if I have to keep covering everything to keep them alive and blooming, then so be it LOL we do so much for these lovely works of natural art! <3

Jill, my fiance sprayed with Liquid Fence a couple weeks ago when I was crying about poor Joan Senior and we thought it was working okay but I didn't want to risk it. Since there needs to be a second application [unfortunately, he's out of town on business] and I can't stomach the stench so I'll have to wait....I also heard about PlantSkyyd but wasn't sure it if worked or not *it's expensive*

I need bigger boxes lol

(I recently found out that I'm allergic to a LOT of things and am actually going to need surgery in the next couple months [2nd surgery this year yay! <---- sarcasm lol] so I need to spend as much time as I can outside before then!)
