Every time I see Little Jetsetter I start drooling. I wish it was available over here but I've searched everywhere and can't find it.

Lovely seedlings, Becky! Thumbs up Part of what makes hybridizing daylilies such fun is to get surprised by something not expected.

The seedling I posted first was the one that is now blooming. The pod parent didn't bloom this year. And Little Jet Setter is a great pollen parent and bloomed much earlier this season.

I probably confused everyone by posting the parents of the seedling (in the first photo).

I always find it surprising what such crosses can produce. This is one of those interesting ones.

I hadn't had the chance to see the TTT26 seedling blooms at the end of the day. I know that blooms can look quite different during various times of the day. It looked like the bloom photo taken in the previous post in the early morning.

This was taken on Friday (yesterday) in the late afternoon. And as suspected, it indeed does look quite different in the late afternoon. In the late afternoon, it resembles it's pod parent more:

Gorgeous, Becky! Love that the eye is darker than the petal color and it really shows off the green throat beautifully.

Thank You! Ginny and Karen!

I was happy that this bloom is staying small. Of course Little Jet Setter is a mini at under 3". And the pod parent is a cross that turned out to be a small bloomer at somewhere around 4". This bloom is 3-1/2". Not quite a mini, but a smaller bloom. I've become fascinated with small and miniature bloomers. And it seems to be a fast multiplier (to some degree) with already 4 fans. I rarely get any seedlings multiply that fast after germination. The seedling is just under 1 year old. I have a couple more seedlings growing from the same cross. Because the parents look so different from each other, I thought it would make for an interesting cross. And I am curious to see if it remains a late season bloomer.

One of my goals is to grow more late season bloomers. I miss the flowers this time of year, but our winters are typically very mild, so I would like to continue to see blooms into August, September, October, and November (if possible).

Can't believe that you get four fans already with this seedling that is less than a year old! Wow! That is truly vigorous.

That is a great seedling, Becky, and vigorous, too. I have a similar experience with a cross from last summer.

I did two crosses last year using Baby Blue Eyes as the pollen parent.

One of the pod parents was

And the other was

I planted 4 seedlings of Dream Blue x Baby Blue Eyes and 6 seedlings of Prairie Blues Eyes x Baby Blue Eyes.

In both groups of seedlings, I have one seedling that already has four fans!

@beckygardener--becky, there really is something very special about the small and mini flowers isn't there. If I was only allowed to grow either big or small daylilies it would be the little ones, no question.

Really like that seedling.

@touchofsky--Valerie, can't wait to see the results of those crosses. Lovey dubby

I love the little ones, too, and this year I concentrated my hybridizing on mainly mini and small daylilies, many with blue eyes.

Everyone - Thank you for your kind comments about my newest seedling.

Valerie - I hope you get blooms next year. I can't wait to see what the seedling blooms look like!

I think I am addicted to growing seedlings. I just love to breed daylilies and can't wait to see what the seedling blooms look like. It is so fascinating and exciting to raise these babies from seeds just waiting to see what one might get from hybridizing. Lovey dubby

Becky,
It probably will take until 2019 for my seedlings planted this summer to bloom. They are all doing really well, though. They have liked this cool, wet summer. I am hoping that my seedlings planted last summer will bloom next summer. These are mostly seeds I got from Cindy (hemlady), plus some bee pods from my garden.

Last summer was the first summer I hybridized. This summer, I planned my hybridizing efforts a bit more.

I love it, too, and am anxious to see my first seedling bloom!

I never would have started growing daylilies from seed and hybridizing if I hadn't joined this forum!

Forgot to post an update on my 4" tall first-year seedling that shocked me by brazenly putting up a scape. It did manage to produce 2 blooms! Was able to snap a photo at the end of the day of the first bloom:
Thumb of 2017-08-10/Dennis616/8b0b14

Was out of town and missed the second. Not exactly a thrilling bloom but I have to give this guy an "A" for effort! We'll see how much it changes in year 2...

Hi,
I know you posted that a while ago, but I'm a relative newbie and I just now saw it. Would you consider this seedling a reverse bi-tone? Or did it outgrow the color difference between petals and sepals in subsequent years?

For the record, I really like bi-tone and reverse bi-tone blooms!

I'm pretty new, so I'm just now checking out seedling posts from a few years ago. These two really butter my biscuit! The second one especially...that pink! Did either of them make the cut?

Beautiful flowers all around.

They are both still here and have made the cut to the final round. This season will decide their fate . I should also see their first offspring bloom this summer. Never a dull moment with hybridizing... Well, maybe packing up seeds and completing invoices 😉
