Hi Monty,

The list of rhizomes in the Historic Iris Preservation Society's annual sale has been released, see the link below. 'Sandalwood' is available this year. The sale begins tomorrow, July 20 for HIPS members, and on Monday, July 22 for non-HIPS members. Please let me know if you acquire 'Sandalwood' and I'll remove it from the list!

I know this is only a hard to find iris in America as it was registered in 2016 by Bianco. However if anyone has, or knows anyone who has, *Mister Allen* please let me know. It is an SDB with variegated foliage.

Also, there is a Species X *Ben's Legacy* and even though it is listed as having 18"- 22" I would love to grow it. It also has variegated foliage. Smiling

the HIPS sale is every year in early July. It pays to join--interesting magazine as well as access to the sale. The members keep an eye on the older irises that many people enjoy. Not everyone likes 'new & frilly'.

Bonnie, I've added 'Mister Allan' and 'Ben's Legacy' to the list. I've also deleted 'Groovy Grubworm' and 'Yat Rock', now that they've been acquired! Smiling

Mister Allan is currently sold out from Bianco and apparently it's too soon for other vendors to have enough stock to start selling it. I lost my single rhizome I got the year it was introduced and have been looking for a new one. Unfortunately, Bianco does not have a waiting list, so if it's available next year I just have to be on my mark when the site opens in spring. Bianco does not ship outside the EU, but I'm guessing a variegated SDB would attract enough attention to spread to the rest of the world sooner or later? Crossing Fingers! Crossing Fingers! Arilbred, @arilbred,

Looks like you requested "Any Arilbreds from hybridizers Les Peterson and Sharon McAllister before 1999". Are you familiar with Seandel Iris Gardens? They have a presence on Facebook, and according to the webpage for The Iris Society of Dallas, (http://www.irises-dallas.org/i...), you can email them for a pdf catalog.

Their Facebook page says they are currently offering 'Bold Sentry' (Peterson 1983) and 'Things to Come' (McAllister 1993). Hope this helps!

@hybridizer

Hi Hybridizer,

Looks like Exline Iris Garden is carrying 'Branching Out' and 'Lurid'. It's unclear if he is accepting orders for 2020, but I was able to proceed to check out without error. Exline's "News" page states he is retiring and trying to sell his entire inventory. Let me know if you acquire these two and I'll remove them from the list.

alilyfan said:I supposedly have Wizard of Hope, but my littles are not labeled, won't know which is which til they bloom. If it is still there. The last 2 years most of my sdb iris did not bloom. Just as they were starting, several hard late freezes took the blooms out. Before that I had a very nice clump of them. I don't want to get any hopes up, sdbs just don't seem to do that well for me

Nancy ~ Thank You! for the rhizomes of Wizard of Hope! I hope they bloom this year! Crossing Fingers!

Bonnie and Evelyn,

Here's a lead for a few irises on the "Wanted" list. Cindy Voss just launched her website. Hurray!
https://vossirisfarm.com/

Almost all her varieties are either "out of stock" or "backordered" right now. On her Facebook page she stated today: "Okay folks, my website is now live. Any questions let me know. I will be adding some iris to sell over the next few days." We should keep an eye on her site. She has the following in her catalog:

'Adoring Glances' - Bonnie
https://vossirisfarm.com/shop/...

'Barbary Coast' - Evelyn
https://vossirisfarm.com/shop/...

'Brownie Boy' - Bonnie
https://vossirisfarm.com/shop/...

'Jiansada' - Bonnie
https://vossirisfarm.com/shop/...

'Wizard of Hope' - Evelyn
https://vossirisfarm.com/shop/...

She is also offering 'Cranfil's Gap'. I know there was a discussion about CF in another thread, but I never officially added it to the "Wanted" list.

Scott ~ Thank you. I do already have Wizard of Hope (From Nancy). I am thinking that Barbary Coast is not a strong grower, since Mary at Bluebird Haven hasn't been able to offer it in 3 years.

Thank you for your continued efforts in searching out hard to find irises for our group! Thank You!

I will add my thanks too, Scott. I have ordered Voss Irises before and they do well here. She works well with people to fulfill their wish list. I have ordered those listed from her previously but as of 2017 they were lost. She said perhaps they had been cut down with a lawnmower and that she would check the next year. I will get in touch and let you know if I have luck this time round. Big Grin

Bonnie - I just had a look at Jiansada on the Voss Iris website and it is nothing like the description and other photos I have seen of Jiansada. I think the iris in the photo is something else.

Hopefully they have it and have just posted the wrong image.
