This is my new friend who decided it is fun to play drumrolls on the chimney cap. It is loud enough outside but at least twice as loud traveling through the ducts. Every day now.

I've been so busy this time of year, I haven't had time to appreciate the blooms which are popping up all over the place! Here are some from the past couple of days, in no particular order.

I started getting epimediums by mail order from Garden Vision Epimediums in 2015 and I made a second purchase a few years later. I made a special garden area for them that I named the Epimedium Walk, but even though epimediums like shade, the garden was situated in too much shade for them to thrive.

When I found out that Karen was retiring and that I had one last chance to visit her place, I took a road trip to Massachusetts in the spring of 2022. I saw first hand the conditions that she had hers growing in - shade, but on the edge of the wood line where it opens up into cleared areas.

I made a huge purchase while there, getting as many different cultivars as I could, knowing that I wouldn't have anywhere near the variety to choose from after that. She has listed other sellers of epimediums, but just as I thought, none with the extensive selections that she had always offered.

Well, when I got home from that trip I put those small epimediums into the new window boxes on the back patio that I was intending to use for lettuce. It was supposed to just be a "temporary" holding space until I could make a more suitable garden area for the collection. Here it is two years later and they are still in there. Must be over 20 of them in their little pots but they are alive and some are blooming. Thank goodness the id tags are still intact. I finally have a garden area shaping up for them, so this will be the year to get them in the ground and also to relocate the ones that I already have.

The hardy waterlily that I overwintered in the greenhouse is blooming. It probably would have been fine outside, but the basin that it lives in is concrete and it would have frozen and cracked, so I had to put the waterlily in a temporary bin anyway.

Terri, I love epimediums. I never made it to Garden Visions, but I have bought from Karen at the NARGS sale at Stonecrop Gardens in NY. Last year, I made sure to try to get some of her Jeffersonia Dubia Dark Centers. She was able to bring 2 and they have sprouted again this year.

Beautiful, Rose! I love the trillium leaves.

I'm not sure who told me about Garden Visions. I bought some from her the last year she open. I wish I would've known about her sooner. They're hard to find.

A nursery sort of near me got some nice ones in. They run $24 each. I bought a few today for a garden I am helping with plus a couple for myself. I am tempted to go back.

We felt it here, shook the building I work at .. At home they thought a car hit the house between the shaking and the noise.
