Yeah, I felt like I was under the "EL" in the Bronx. I didn't exit the building I was in because, hey, it's NJ. I don't expect anything to happen from an earthquake. But then I thought that was foolish because, these days, you never know.

This NOID Bleeding Heart is always the first to bloom. My all Gold ones are at least a foot tall, and the others are just breaking ground.
I've noticed only this one white bloom on all of my fritillaries (sp?). Do the purple checkered ones usually take over the plant? I know I've had more white blooms in the past.

So pretty Rose! I always got more purple than white checkered lilies but still get both. To ramp up the whites, I feel it is a good idea to order some whites on their own. Mine are blooming now but due to disturbance, they are scarce. I will replenish them this year.

Thanks Loretta. I guess I didn't realize that you could order just white. I'll have to see if I can find the place I ordered from before. Who do you order from?

Loretta, I'd love to see your Jeffersonia dubia Dark Centers when they bloom. Jealous! The regular one has always been one of my favorite spring ephemerals (of course, now called Plagiorhegma dubium - crazy!) I've seen some pics on-line of the dark centered ones - they were very pretty.

Terry, I used to order from Garden Vision all the time, back when Darryl Probst was the owner. I loved the remarkable variety, but they were awfully small plants. He made a big point about planting them out, not leaving them in pots. But they often arrived so late in spring and with our blazing hot summer looming, I often found they did better in pots to grow them up for a season before planting them out. It's sad losing a specialty nursery like that.

And welcome to 41North! That is a beautiful camellia - wish I could grow one here!

In the past, you could get the alba form of frittilaria mealgris, from Brent and Becky's.

Terri,
They were given to me about 25 years ago by one of my sisters.

Thanks for the info! I now have some ordered for fall delivery. All of the others that I checked on only sold the assorted bulbs

Scott, Plagiorhegma sounds too much like symptoms of a bad cold to put it delicately. Just emerging now. Better pictures to come. I agree about the size of Garden Vision plants. They were very delicate and easily scorched to death.

Incredible primroses, Larry!

Love that Jeffersonia, Loretta. I'll look forward to more. Mine (both dubia and diphylla) have reseeded around a little, so they pop up here and there. I just wish the flowers were a little sturdier - a light drizzle can knock the petals off. But on a perfect day, I think they're hard to beat.
And what a fantastic primrose, Larry! Looks like a primrose on steroids!

Scott, I wish it would reseed around but something is interested in the seeds. The pods always disappear.
