Larry, do you know the name of that two color (yellow & bronze) iris?

It looks like a historic one that I've seen up here.

Thanks! Sunny

Sunny, very likely 'Sans Souci' (without worry); the now widespread early iris, "the iris which lost its name" (to Iris 'Honorabile').

Thank you Charlie! I have seen this in town around the oldest homes (late eighteen hundreds, early 19 hundreds) blooming quite faithfully every year. Appropriate for the name 'Sans Souci'! Smiling

Lol, someone gave me a mystery box of about three dozen...a bit small but they look healthy. I also had a handful of reds I'd lifted because I was digging something else out awhile back. I love glads but they can be tricky in our summer heat.

That sounds like fun! They are a quick one-and-done here, then ignored until inflorescences start to show again the next spring.

Sunny, as you indicate, Sans Souci is very widespread. I think I even know how some of it got spread.

Mine came from the Timmins area, which is about 450 miles north of here; from my wife's grandmother's cottage garden on Barbers Bay. Her husband and herself were Americans, who moved up to Timmins, in 1915, to be involved in the then new gold mining industry. Grandma Dodge was an avid gardener who had the cottage built and personally established and maintained its garden. Even when I knew her, she brought garden plants up from the States, legally or not.

Beautiful glads, Tiffany. I don't have much luck with most glads, though I had a pretty one called 'Boone' which returned for several years before petering out.
These pictures are probably from 10 years ago.

Scott, Boone petered out for me too but then appeared many years later for a season Shrug! I found Boone flowers were over faster than peonies. Too bad because I love the color and flower.

Lovely vista, Frank!
