Finally some good flowers showing here.

Major Wheeler's Honeysuckle in a 12" hole cut in the concrete but is doing remarkably well in that spot and is loaded with flowers.

Last fall I forgot that I had planted 5 Globemaster Alliums mixed in with the daylilies. Smaller than I expected but this is only their first year.

They do, but I usually don't sit out front to see them, my husband does though. I hope to change that this summer, I put a rocking chair out front for me too for this year. Last year I discovered how cool it is there even on the hottest days because it's in constant shade with the porch roof and the magnolia tree right there.

So many great colors everyone. That Salvia Nemorosa Rose Marvel just glows.
Glade I do not have to deal with the cicadas , and hope that those in the areas they are coming to do not suffer much damage.

Nancy, do you find that the honeysuckle has just one bloom season, or does it repeat on and off for the summer?

Thanks!

It has the big flush of flowers in spring, but then still has blooms here and there through most of the summer and even into fall. Not the big display of spring, but it's still nice to see some flowers.

Love that honeysuckle, Nancy! I planted a Major Wheeler a couple of years ago, but it's taking it's time getting established. Looking better this year - 1st year sleep, 2nd year creep, 3rd year leap - so they say. I'll be patiently waiting for mine to look as good as yours. I have planted another honeysuckle (Kintzley's Ghost) which is more of an oddity, but it's still a baby too.

Nancy I recently received that beautiful Salvia you posted. Now I know what to look forward to. I give my Honeysuckle a little boost of fertilizer to help it along. Blooms till the hard frost. One of three plants in the garden that starts in the spring and continues to first hard frost. Always looking for more of those.

Mike, I love your garden, everything seems to be well established. Mine is still a work in progress... I'm even still moving things around if I don't like how they're doing in a certain spot.

Scott, I planted my Major Wheeler's in May 2019. I wasn't sure how well it would do in that weird hole, but there was a climbing rose in it before that did ok some years, so figured I'd try when I replaced the rose (several winters in a row killed back all the canes to the ground and I got tired of starting from scratch every spring). I remember Major Wheeler's climbing the full height of that wrought iron the first season, and the 2nd season it was full of blooms, not quite this much, but still looked pretty good. I do fertilize it every spring with Espoma Plant Tone, and it's almost full sun. I only water it if we're having a lot of dry weather and looks like it might be suffering, otherwise it makes do with our rain.

Wow, Mike, quite a display!
I just planted Azure Snow salvia, so I'm particularly pleased to see how well it looks. I am fond of nectaroscordum (now reclassified to allium). Its an unusual plant with a subdued beauty. The flowers are particularly pretty when backlit by the sun.

Another favorite in the Angel Bower is this Syneilesis aconitifolia, common name Shredded Umbrella Plant. There is a trillium in the front left corner of the photo. Both of these are plants that I specifically look for to emerge in the spring - makes me so happy when I see them

I also love syneilesis, especially the cool way it emerges in spring - this is a clump of mine just coming up toward the end of March. I had taken a bunch of divisions from it last fall, so I was pleased to see it still looks pretty full. It's a great foliage plant for the woodland - and a big bonus, the deer don't bother it.
