Even with just a computer learners permit I got here. 'Drama Queen' won the dykes by the way. I have to catch hubby in a good mood so he can make the markers for incoming irises. Hot & humid tomorrow so neither of us will do much in the garden.Thumb of 2011-07-11/irisarian/ddd92b
Have to match Dee with a seedling--not an intro, however.

Polly, I think people will just naturally end up over here and won't want to post twice in two different places, so maybe you guys should make the move. And I keep hearing that the database(s) will probably end up over here too at some point, and if not there will be a link we can click on to take us to the database. I'm always resistant to change, but after I came over here to check it out I realized that this is where it's happening and it will be easier for people to deal with just one forum over here since the multiple forum approach apparently caused some people to avoid Cubits. Anyway, food for thought...

I agree with Betty, cubits is great and I will keep my hobby cubit...but for gardening it was too hard to look things up over there. Some cubits included all plants, some were exclusive to one or two (iris) etc. If I wanted all the info I could get from my old DG friends I had to look thru many many chatty threads to find it. It was easier on DG, but I unsubscribed to that site a while back. here, i feel like I can follow many threads and not feel like I am being supportive of one cubit and unsupportive of another Blinking we are just one great big community again Group hug

As for my iris, well I moved about 150 of them from the old house before escrow closed and replanted them up here. Unfortunately all my tags are all wrong, Harvest moon and tomorrow may rain are not supposed to be purple! Rolling on the floor laughing I thought I would take photos and match them to my invoices and tag them all correctly this year, but then a huge hail storm hit before I could get any photos Grumbling they are now all tattered....so maybe next year Whistling

When I replanted, I tossed some of the rhizomes that I thought were 'bad' off the balcony..... I now have iris growing there too Smiling

I agree but I one of the downfalls with cubits was that people were posting all over the place, it was hard to find info because all the iris people got split up. some were in the iris cubit, some in regional gardening cubits etc. So to find my favorite experts posts I had to search all over. I would love it if all my friends were posting about iris all in one forum again Whistling Angel

The things I liked about the Iris forums at cubits was that it is (Was?) a busy forum. But too difficult to navagate around. So I want to see what was new, not one central location to look. So I usually didn't look at all. Now it is all good here. One Iris forum and I don't have to be lost.

you can put a link to the iris forum here in your signature line at both sites. that way you just click the link in your last post and can move back and forth easily. Also everytime you post it will be advertising to those who read it that there is a new iris forum Smiling

If you need help doing this just let me know and I'll send you instructions in a tree-mail Smiling

Trish posted that Dave is going to add functionality called tagging. This is supposed to replace the extra layer of information (i.e. forums) we have in the Iris Cubit.

Definitely need help, am computer illiterate. I had to find this site by typing it in the top line then put it on 'favorites' & it goes to a list of places to post. It doesn't go directly to the site as my other favorites do.

Psst, we're not on Cubits. Rolling my eyes.

Lucy, if you click on the Forums tab above, (or the Articles or Blogs) It takes you to all that ATP offers us. You can then find the forums you want to visit from there, like Iris'. When you get to a forum main page, like the Iris Forum, you can click 'watch this forum' just under the search button in the upper right and you'll always be updated on any new threads or posts.
The threads have "Watch" on the top left.
The forums have 'Watch' on the top right.

When you click on the logo "All Things Plants" on the upper left, it takes you to your personalized home page of forums/threads you alone are watching. That is where you can bookmark the site as it's the main home page and the URL address (that's what you see in the location bar at the top of any site page you are on) is http://garden.org/

Sue, I figured going to cubits and having a link to here would work as well for Lucy as trying to use favorites. I believe she is having problems getting to the website not navigating (but I'm sure your instructions will also help).
