Raining here. Supposed to continue until 9 PM. We've needed it. I get exhausted these days too easily trying to unwind and lug hoses around, and then rewind them. Hubby can't help with it much anymore due to his tendency to lose balance and fall.

So I'm really glad for this rain.

This near record setting heat is killer here, especially after a pretty chilly cold snap being in the mid 50s mid 30s. Now being close to 90 is...quite a change.

The last week has been cool with rain on and off that has totaled 1/2 inch for the week. The sun finally came out today and I think the rain is done for the next ten days. Flowers have been lasting a long time because of the cool temperatures, but the bloom has been late for this area. The rain has been gentle, so it hasn't damaged the flowers too much. Two weeks ago we had some very strong winds which knocked over a couple of my very tall varieties. Such is life.

It was a high of 52° with a predicted low of 39°. It was sunny in the early morning, then cloudy for most of the day. Now that the sun is "going down", it is sunny in the west. There is a chance of rain tomorrow.

Well, on Friday it was a civilized 74 degrees. But yesterday, the temperature jumped 15 degrees to a very uncivilized 89! My poor late bloomers got fried and most of the blooms turned into mushy, slimy messes. We always have a heat wave in May, which is why I have stopped buying late bloomers and am probably going to cull the ones I have. A lot of Tom Johnson's introductions are late bloomers and they are lovely but they won't work for me.

Currently, here, in the Sierra foothills, it is 76° with a gentle cool breeze blowing.

We had a surprise shower last night.

Surprisingly , three of the Iris I have planted in the past came up this year.
Name markers are gone tut two are identical purple ones and one is maroon.
So far the Iris have liked the weather.

Today was a high of 64° with a predicted low of 48°. It is cool for this time of year, but no complaints!

OMG! It actually sprinkled a bit. Not much, but it is cool and cloudy. The predicted high is 65° with a 41% chance of rain. Maybe we already took that chance!😁

Today I'm looking at overcast and a high of 70. Predictions are for partly cloudy but gradually warming up to the the high seventies at end of the week. I wish it would be like this all summer, but it won't.
Meanwhile, I am enjoying it.

Andrea ~ It really is pretty amazing, isn't it? I just need to put on a heavy sweater and do some weeding! I'm feeling kinda' lazy today. There are a lot of weeds!

Weeds are like death and taxes - inevitable. Here the weeds are slowing down a bit as the weather dries up and they are not getting as much water. I'm promising myself I will use more Preen in the future. It really does help.

Ha! We just got a soaking thunderstorm!

we're getting the annual monsoon moisture; our indoor thermometer registers 75 deg. and 75% humidity. ugh and yuck! this week it's been as high as 77% humidity and 79 deg. we haven't turned on the a.c., yet. however, we're seriously considering it.

we had a huge drop rain shower for about 3 min. just enough to get the surfaces wet. but, not enough to get anything "watered". ☹️

82 degrees here, 43% humidity.

it sometimes lasts for a couple of weeks. this weather sometimes sets off lightning fires around the area. always keeps us on our toes.

It is predicted to be in the low 80s for 3 days, then go back to the low 90s by Sunday gradually increasing until then. At least it (temporarily) got out of the 90s! It's just been too hot this summer. I wonder if it will cool down nicely in fall before winter settles in. Sometimes summer lasts too long.

I agree, summer often does last too long. Some of our hottest weather can be in mid-October and then, boom, it's Halloween and all of a sudden we are into holiday hoopla, and there has been very little cool down in between.
