I wasn't even thinking about a bare foot. I was thinking about a shoe print. So there you do ... everyone sees it differently. But why introduce something that could be too obscure to understand at a glance?

I think that is the key, it has to be understood. I personally don't 'get' the organic heart either. Just grasses might be too obscure, though.... mmmmm

Something like that chocolate daisy that's showing right now in the Recent Images, made smaller and with some tall native grasses behind it. Something like that might work. Other ideas?

In Europe a 'footprint' means how you charge the environment. So the less footprints you give, the better it is.

No clue how to design it but...a world globe surrounded with grass and wildflowers...that way everyone would be included, not just those here in the states

The green globe with two sprigs wrapped around it is the worldwide symbol for native. We will probably run into copyright again with that one. There is a symbol on the New England Wildflower society that is similar (thanks for posting those links). We should be able to come up with something in that vein?

Maybe just a circle symbolizing the earth and something in it? Don't need to run into copyright issues. The image has to be able to shrink down very small and still be recognizable as well.

I like the idea of a light blue globe with a green sprig in the center, or a green sprig with a tiny little butterfly ... LOL, I know, I know ... that would take a macro badge.

That's really interesting -- it would never have occurred to me as an association, maybe because here in the north we don't get to go barefoot that much? (okay, I have been known to go out in the snow for short distances without shoes, but...) Interesting!

Ann, do you mean a blue circle or something else? I'm not sure a globe that small would be distinguishable as to what it is, but I don't know.

Here is one image that could go behind a circle (maybe). It's public domain (USDA). Would something like that go inside the blue? Or behind the globe? Of course, wildflowers are natives, but not all natives are wildflowers. That's why this is tricky, methinks.

And if I can ever find where I put the image, I'll post it.

Maybe stylized compass points to represent all corners of the globe with something superimposed on that? Just throwing out ideas. But, iMHO, we can get too far afield (no pun intended) from the category Natives and Wildflowers. Simple and stylized.
