Only a couple of cups of each
Black Cherry
Stupice
Brandywine
Delicious

And, by request, couple of Snow White for friends.

Mmmmmm.... I can almost taste that first home grown tomato of the year.

Got mine sown last week. I will make a list of what I am growing this year. Think it's only 6 varieties this time.

Mine (Snow White) never ripened because of our weird weather last year. I didn't have any seed for them this year so didn't try them again. Sad

Lynn, that's a bummer.

Steven, I think they're good. And, yes, very productive.

Donna, wintersowing begins on winter solstice, Dec. 21, for all areas. It doesn't matter where you live.

I'm never that organized and efficient. I start with perennials and hardy annuals around January. I don't sow tomatoes until around March. It's officially spring before I sow tender annuals. I haven't done those yet, but I intend to do a few very soon, probably in the next couple of weeks.

I also wait till March/April before sowing any tender annuals.

I did 2 varieties today... Mountain Princess and Bush Beefsteak, 4 seeds each. I still want to do some Romas - my luck they will all germinate... I have room for 4 plants on the side of my house... 3 really, but i cram in 4.

Thankfully - my neighbor, who's dog pees on all my plants - they are moving... So i wont have to worry about the Maters... plus i can probably add more "out back" . Maybe one year, i can even do more of a 'garden' not just tomato plants willy nilly in my flower beds.

I am not doing tomatoes as a WS because they are too slow for me that way.
Under lights in a few weeks:

Seeds from Seedy Saturday:

Sophie's Choice
Jaune Flamme
Silvery Fir Tree
Variegated

My toms seem to produce fruit around the same time whether WSown or started under lights. Didn't make any difference for me. But the WSown seem to form much better roots. They just seem much healthier to me.

They're tiny when planted out. Here's May, 2010

Awesome photos Karen.

My WS tomatoes did the same way. Just got very few ripe tomatoes because of the La Nina weather pattern last summer. Never got warm enough for long enough to ripen them.
Hopefully this year will be better.

Caroline--have you grown Silvery Fir Tree before? I"m trying it for the first time this year. Mine are under lights, but they germinated in only 3 days! I'd love to try WS my tomatoes, but I'm too chicken *Blush*
