No promises here, Crossing Fingers! but in the past I have brought ProMix at wholesale prices. The thread "Pro Mix for the swap" in Mid Atlantic Gardening forum
Depending on my truck situation and health I may be able to do this again. There are other mixes available. If anyone is interested in running to S, York, Pa. for a pick-up I can share all the info or place the order for you since I've become so undependable. Sad

Hi Folks,

I've just joined because I was looking for a fall plant swap. I have a number of named daylilies that I'd love to find good homes for but it depends on where and when the swap occurs. I'm in SE Pa and have an elderly dog so can't do a long haul, as much fun as it would be. Anyway, some of the daylilies I'm thinking of re-homing are:

Smith Brothers - near black, just started blooming for me today. Very vigorous.
Fairy Tale Pink - peachy pink - I would not have named it pink but hey, nobody asked me! Not in bloom yet but coming.
Lullaby Baby - also peachy pink but paler than Fairy Tale. Started blooming yesterday.
Frans Hals - bi-color, orange and yellow. Late season, multiplies pretty quickly and much prettier than it sounds...
H. citrina - this id is tentative. The friend who gave it to me thought it was citrina but couldn't swear to it. It fits the bill though, being nocturnal, smaller yellow trumpet, lightly fragrant. This one also multiplies somewhat quickly but isn't overwhelming. It will be in bloom by early July.

There may be a few more - I haven't decided yet. Possibly Bela Lugosi (near black) and Dominic (also near black) and maybe some Carolicolossal (yellow spider). Carolicolossal is really lovely but my clump has already multiplied quite a bit and my garden is small. And, ahem, I keep buying daylilies....

(edited to correct a mix up in bloom times.) BTW, I do have photos of these and will try to get them posted soon.

Welcome! @daleg_garden !

Our next swap is located in Washington, DC. But, don't let that stop you from participating. We have plant fairies all over the region. I'm sure someone would be able to help with transport.

I wish I had enough sun for daylilies. The Smith Brothers, Bela and Dominic sound really neat!

I am going to withdraw my order of ProMix. I will not be able to drive to DC. I got lost going to the Arboretum, I got lost going to the Ukrainian Cathedral behind the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, took me 2 hours before I finally arrived. Longer to the Arboretum, came very late for a meeting----

So, if I'm understanding this correctly, the swap will happen somewhere in Washington DC on October 6th? DC would be a rather long day trip but if I can connect with one or two of those "plant fairies" I'd love to send some daylilies. The list I'm hoping to re-home has expanded a bit and now includes:

Georgette Belden - near black but not as dark as Smith Bros., large, somewhat ruffled blooms of heavy substance, blooming for me now
Strutters Ball - very similar to Georgette but slightly smaller, also in bloom now
Nosferatu - another near black (sensing a pattern here?) not in bloom yet but coming

My plan is to divide and pot up the plants so they travel well and get going fast in their new homes but I can also "bare root" them and wrap them in plastic for easier transport. They won't hold as long that way but daylilies are survivors.

I'm not looking for plants in return because I'm trying to create some room, having discovered the older A.B. Stout daylily cultivars and fallen madly in love... *Blush*

Greetings daleg! Hope you are able to find a plant fairy for your swappables. I will be hosting the fall swap. FWIW, my house is very easy to find. Upper NW DC near Chevy Chase Circle, about two miles from Beltway.

Thanks for offering to host, Lisa!

Spiderwort, always interested! My gardening friend /neighbor Martina would love a start of the yellow & orange kniphofia, too. So dig away, please, LOL.

Speaking of digging... has anybody dug & potted peanut butter shrub in fall? I've only pulled & potted them in spring. I've got bunches of them around my main tree/bush

Several of us went in on a pre-season sale from ADR bulbs, and we've talked about doing an additional order (where you could get 5 of this and 20 of that, not just whole boxes) soon. Now that I'm back from vacation I can set that up.

Reason for mentioning now is that we could combine bulb pick-up party with ProMix pickup party... I can nearly always convince Terri to go on a road trip Smiling and we could fit quite a few ProMix bales in the Odessey.... I'm thinking probably 8 or 10? But that's without swap plants, tables, food, etc. in the vehicle, so I can't bring 10 bales to the fall swap. But we'll figure it out!

Jill, rent a semi. Plenty of parking in my 'hood. Btw, my neighbors are gems—a few may even join us.

Now Lisa, you know telling Jill to rent a semi for plant stuff could lead to all of us blowing our plant budget for the next couple of years. Hilarious!

Hmm, maybe Terri's DH Mike has a little trailer we could use... The logistics of parallel parking minivan + trailer may be beyond me, however.

Jim DID once promise me I could put a towing hitch on one of our vehicles (at the time I was lobbying for a little pickup truck).
